David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

I said my piece before , but I genuinely believe that he’d have enjoyed tonight more if he was Everton manager winning the cup. In most ways right man at the right time but in some ways right man at the wrong time . You could maybe argue vice versa. I’m happy for him. But as Everton, we need to get ourselves back into Europe again and it’ll be us winning these cups. Long road . But. Starts here….

Yes, it's a tin pot competition.

But so what, they've had a much more enjoyable season than the one we've just endured.

I would swap with them right now no question.

Putting them down does look awfully bitter.
We can get there. Hopefully the new board (minus Kenwright hopefully!) can kickstart us. If West Ham can win a European trophy , and Brighton can qualify for the tournament - all respect to those two clubs - Everton definitely can. It’s on us now

almost a typical Moyes season, apart from the cup glory. At Everton there were times when his teams looked all over the place and not at the races in any way whatsoever, but he always managed to turn it round in the second half of seasons to make it reasonably successful.

We were only a finger jail from winning something under Moyes. The ‘09 final, people say we scored first too early etc etc but they forget we had Jagielka , arteta, Yakubu ball long term injured then for the final. He worked wonders getting us there. Kenwright was the problem. Still is. We’ll get back there. It’ll take a while and it’ll be tough. But we will . UTFT

To be fair to Bill, he couldn’t produce money he didn’t have!

West Ham's route to a European trophy: -

Viborg (Denmark) - they finished 3rd out of 12 teams in the Danish Superliga regular season and 4th in the Championship Play Offs - they played in the Danish first division in 2021

FCSB (Romania) formerly Steaua Bucuresti - they finished 3rd out of 16 teams in the Liga 1 regular season and 2nd in the Play offs

Silkeborg (Denmark) - they finished 7th out of 12 teams in the Danish Superliga regular season and 3rd in the Relegation Play Offs this season

Anderlecht (Belgium) - they finished 11th out of 18 teams in the Belgium Pro League

some big hitters there to just get past the group stages

knockouts they faced some even mightier opponents

Last 16 - AEK Larnaca (Cyprus) - some people call them the cypriot barcelona - they finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the Cypriot First Division regular season and 3rd in the Championship Play offs

Quarter Finals - Gent (Belgium) - some people call them the belgium real madrid - they finished 5th out of 18 teams in the Belgium Pro League

Semi Finals - AZ Alkmaar (Netherlands) - some people call them the Dutch Man City - they finished 4th out of 18 teams in the Eredivisie

Finals - Fiorentina (Italy) - they finished 8th out of 20 teams in Serie A

impressive stuff from the mighty irons
Good point. It's not like the days when Everton had to beat massive clubs like University College Dublin, Internacional Bratislava and Fortuna Sittard before facing the mighty giants of Rapid Vienna in the ECWC final.

And Everton really struggled past University College Dublin.

The only good team we beat to win the ECWC was Bayern. (admittedly, great team)

The Conference League replaced the Cup Winners Cup.

Anybody saying its worthless is frankly a bit of a tit. I'd be on the piss for a week.

To be fair to bill, he didn't need to.

He had options to sell but they didn't involve him staying on.

And let's not forget we could have been in a waterfront stadium by 2009 had he not lied to shareholders about money being available to fend off a fellow board member. (the same board member who lent him the money to buy out PJ)

He's a disgusting pig. I'll celebrate for a week when he's in a box. (yeah, ANOTHER cup win.)

Good for Moyes, happy for him that he’s finally won something, despite his trash talking of Everton when he got the United job. He made himself look a complete [Poor language removed] when he did that so his few years in the wilderness and relegation with Sunderland was his penance for that.

Our best manager over the last 20 years.

It's the kind of behaviour you get from big four club fans, the vast vast majority of football fans will never see their team win a league or champions league, contrary to what those folk say they are still allowed to smile and enjoy sport.

I saw Spurs fans calling it tin-pot and acting like they were too good for it as well. I never get that mentality, especially from fans of clubs who have won [Poor language removed] all in years and aren’t even doing well enough to be in the damn tournament, never mind winning it.

We wouldn’t be calling it tin-pot if we were anywhere near the final, that’s for sure.

Exactly.

It's mindbending so many Everton fans are scoffing at West Ham for a celebrating a trophy win.

We're at West Hams competitive level thanks to 20+ years of gross mismanagement by fatty.

To think the Europa Conf is beneath us because we're the once mighty Everton is laughable.

We'll be lucky to qualify for the conference league in the next 5 years.

We are below West Ham and will stay there for the foreseeable
