And more than Ancelotti. So achieved the same as Slaven Bilić did
Moyes achieved the best season in West Ham's Premier League history. And he didn't have a Payet in the side to win points from nowhere. So achieved the same as Slaven Bilić did
We know what we'll get from Moyes. Consistent 7th/8th place finishes, and bottling all the big games. Don't get me wrong Moyes did a good job for us, but he's not the man to take us to the next level. Bringing him back for a second stint as manager, would be a depressingly retrograde step. I want a winner as our next manager, and David Moyes just isn't a winner. The facts are he has been our most successful manager since 1995 by so far it isn't funny.
Is he an inspiring choice, no.
Would he be strong enough to clean the joint out and create some stability, yes.
Would his teams have the heart and soul that the fans so desire, yes.
Outside of one season, which you could argue was a combo of the defensive structure he instilled, mixed with Roberto's attacking style, we haven't come even close to achieving what he achieved.
I'd love us to look elsewhere, but he would not be a bad choice. Just because he doesn't wear hipster jeans or drinks organic kale juices on the sidelines, doesn't mean he can't manage a football team. He has done an amazing job at West Ham.
Bullocks. He just finished sixth with a worse squad. We know what we'll get from Moyes. Consistent 7th/8th place finishes, and bottling all the big games. The first leg against Fiorentina, the second leg against Sporting Lisbon, the cup semi final against the rs, the Wigan game. No wins at anfield the Emirates Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford. Enough said. Moyes did a good solid job for us but as i say, going back to him would be a depressingly backwards step.Bullocks. He just finished sixth with a worse squad.
That’s a fair point about not being able to take us to the next level, but the fact is we haven’t been at the level we were since he left. All of our managers and I include Carlo have been walked over by the players, at least that wouldn’t happen under Moyes. However I have absolutely no idea now who we get or what the plan is.We know what we'll get from Moyes. Consistent 7th/8th place finishes, and bottling all the big games. Every manager has bad individual games. Doesn’t take away from the fact he had us consistently punching way above our weight for more than a decade. The first leg against Fiorentina, the second leg against Sporting Lisbon, the cup semi final against the rs, the Wigan game. He did do a good job for us. But he had his flaws as manager as well. We need to move on from Moyes though. Besides he burnt his bridges with Everton, with his behaviour and conduct towards us after he joined United.Every manager has bad individual games. And if you look at some of the football West Hal played this year, some of it was genuinely edge of the seat stuff.
And that is without mentioning the excellent players we saw under him, like Arteta, Pienaar, Baines, etc. Heck, he even made us a few quid by signing John Stones before he left.
His conduct was fine. He always talks about Everton with a lot of respect. He did do a good job for us. But he had his flaws as manager as well. We need to move on from Moyes though. Besides he burnt his bridges with Everton, with his behaviour and conduct towards us after he joined United.
Yeah right. Nowt to do with Chelsea having a cash-doped team? Just compare what was on the pitch that day:To be honest I blame Moyes entirely for that defeat. Scoring that early clearly blew apart his game plan to hold out for a draw or try to nick something on the counter.
Instead he allowed Chelsea to come at us for 89 minutes…and that was only ever going to end one way. He did nothing to change the game and we endured an 89 minute wait for the inevitable defeat.
The only surprise of the entire day was Dan Gosling coming on after about 80 minutes…and that was because Anichebe was out injured, so Moyes’ usual substitution strategy couldn’t be used.
