2024/25 David Moyes

I wasn't happy to give Dyche a minute more after the home collapse to Bournemouth. He was cooked. But if you are going to sack him, you must demand an improvement - otherwise we have wasted money paying him off and getting a new guy in on a longish contract.

Moyes needs to start picking up points. I don't demand miracles - or instant results - but I do demand improvement. These first two games will set the mood. February will then, likely, go a long way to showing us whether he will keep us up or not. Now is not the time to install Moyes's glass ceiling for him. He will do that of his own accord. I wish him well. But there's no senitment from me for his return.

So you dont demand miracles but you do demand instant results?

Id we'd of brought in potter everyone would of been say he needs time to implement his style on the team and such. No one would he expecting much from the next 3 games.

This all just boils down to my original point people who dont want moyes here are so desperate to be proven right that their going to cause a kick off as soon as they can about him not being the right man. Even if the odds of him wining the next games are against him.

Hes going to have 3 days training with the squad before villa and people are demanding a win. Its madness

You might want to read the bit where I explicity wrote: "I don't demand instant results, but I do demand improvement."

I'd give him a pass on Villa, as I said upthread or on another thread. But he really does need to start picking points up pronto. Spurs are ripe for the picking.

Just been given a warning for my Dementia post. Ridiculous as that is because it was only a joke. I said it before, old man says Moyes is a good appointment, I say does he have Dementia? Because it is a stupid and desperate appointment.

But I digress. What I did find most amusing was this statement that was copy and pasted from the GOT manual to my inbox.

"GrandOldTeam prides itself on offering Everton fans a place for intelligent and respectful debate about the issues that matter to them, offering a feature-rich, intelligent and moderated forum for our readers to share their own personal views on all things Everton FC"

Intelligent, Respectful, Feature-Rich????

Many of us have warnings, just accept medicine and move on.

Ultimately like most of the managers we employ he’s a bit marmite .
It isn’t just that we never won a trophy , it’s also that we never seriously competed for anything , in 11 years .
The football was better than Dyche’s latterly , but it was still limited.
No matter how little money we had to spend , Moyes always made sure he was one of the best paid managers in Europe let alone in the PL. That was the price he exacted to not be over critical of Kenwright and expose him to greater supporter opprobrium than he otherwise faced .
I regard him as an able but limited manager , and a cynical self serving person .
Any claim he may make to any affinity to our club should be heard with large doses of of scepticism.
Moyes is loyal to Moyes and nothing else .
Let just hope he can steer us out of this mess and not fail as he did at Sunderland.
And I also hope that , despite the rumoured contract length , that our owners do not plan to have him in place beyond the seasons end .
We owe this person no loyalty , whatever our finishing position.

Any appointment will always split the fanbase. It's the managers job to work hard to engage with the fans, say and do the right things, and get the team playing how we play when we're the best at it, snarling football and get results. If they do that and win a trophy, the fanbase will be less split on them, so it's up to them.

I think Moysie is the sort of guy who'll pull each player in to the office one at a time.
Hopefully asking them "which position on the pitch do YOU think you'd benefit Everton more"?
I'd wager a fair few will name a role Dyche never gave them.
He'll have watched many hours of footage and must know like we know how many players looked unsure and uncomfortable in themselves under the last regime.
If he nails this i think with a signing or 2 of his own we'll see a vastly different Everton.

the finances should be better next season

let’s see what the plan TFG have

they may have had names in the back of they’re head

dyche going has changed the whole thing

I agree that Moyes wouldn't have been their No. 1 summer 2025 appointment, but I wouldn't understand to offer a manager 2,5 years then on a probably similar wage as Dyche was on.

We've been in the relegation battle all season, and basically they've been waiting for the whole season for the takeover to be confirmed and clearly have watched the situation and had enough time to prepare for different scenarios and how they would handle them.

One of them must surely be a possible early change of manager. It's at least what I expect and hope.

It shouldn't come out of the blue that Dyche had to be sacked.

I’m more confident of getting something from those games now Dyche has gone.
