2024/25 David Moyes

….apparently talking to the media at 16.00 today.
I wonder who's scripting it for him?

First time round he had Kenwright to hand him The People's Club comment.

I'm going to guess he's going to do a heavy jibe against Liverpool again by using the stadium as the prod.

Oh the hatred is strong in this one.

Your emotions blind you my friend.

Really sceptical about the Moyes appointment, feel the team needed a fresh input of ideas and energy, and whilst I do think Moyes is a step up from Dyche my concern is that its still a very similar approach and it will fail to energise the team, I genuinely think this could be the appointment that sends us down, and the only thing that will save us, will be a successful January window.
I dont buy into the fact that Moyes will get us into a good place either, when you evaluate where hes left teams its quite damning, and I think the evidence is look at how teams perform after he goes. I have no doubt he will, over time, get us to a more solid squad, but he does it in more of a dictatorship, rather than collaborative. He rarely works with a DoF so succession planning is almost impossible, as its essentially him running everything. I think its a really odd appointment given the direction of football, and think this could be the final nail. Im obviously hopeful im wrong, but this does worry me more than any other appointment.

Realistically I think he keeps them up, the football becomes a little more palatable and then they have a crap start to next season and everybody’s talking about hi replacement. Rinse and repeat
He's a notoriously slow starter. Many of our seasons were holed under the bough by November during his previous stint. His teams very often, then, went on great runs during the second half of the season when the pressure was off.

He won't get away with that here now more than once.

He'll be taking them to the Italian boot camp run by Wor Kenny his brother...ker-ching!.

No wonder we started slow, they were all still spewing up from the effort for the next 2 months.

I call it survival - which is Moyes' job to now deliver.

I wouldn't expect football, tbh...now or in the future.
I think survival is fundamental to any ‘success’

If he does, and we do this year, I think over time we will see better toffee, I would expect us to improve, and climb the league…

It’s all about survival now

It was always going to be a tough ask.

But if they'd have got a top coach in those players respected like Ancelotti they'd have made the transition a lot smoother.

I think SAF believed Moyes could do a rebuild after seeing his astute purchasing at Everton. He just wasn't savvy as a coach on the football side though and those players could probably sense it and got him out hoping United would then make the right choice.

Your current manager has just waved a white flag at you in a meeting.

Its january. You're 1 point above the relegation zone.
Im making you the new Everton owner.
What top coach is this you are getting in to start right away?

Floors all yours.

@davek you know I love ya mate, but anything you say derogatory about our new-ish manager, is totally illegitimate due to your previously unwavering support for Dyche whilst he continually let our club and the fans down.

I’m sorry TFG had to break up the band, but I’m certain that if any other club is stupid enough to hire gravel breath again in the future, you can reform Davek and the Dychettes and go support whatever club your miracle worker washes up at. God help them, whoever they are.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on that happening any time soon though, as much as it will break your little heart as no one but you recognises Dyches genius.

So until that glorious day when you and dyche can be together again, how about showing our new manager one tenth of the support you showed his predecessor, at least until Moyes gives us reason not to during this second spell?
