2024/25 David Moyes

I never bought the shouts that Dyche was going to be sacked on day one, even if it was merited. I never saw them doing that. They were waiting until critical mass was reached and that, for pretty much everyone, was Bournemouth. As ruthless as they appear, they were only going to do it once they were properly in on the ground.

I had no doubt it would happen, but the briefings afterwards also suggest TFG wanted firm control of the narrative.

They probably contacted Moyes weeks ago. He'll surely be asked about that later and say it was all done on Friday. I'd be very skeptical that was the case.

Yeah, this is it really.

Moyes has saved clubs from the drop before, ourselves included, so that isn't something Dyche has over him. On top of that, Moyes has shown an ability to be able to build teams, progress them and develop the football they play (albeit I'll accept that at heart he is a pragmatist) which is, to be kind, a question mark over Dyche.

There are plenty of valid reasons to be underwhelmed about the appointment, but in no way is it a downgrade from Dyche even just for the situation we find ourselves in.

"To be kind" is right

I’ll be happy to see the passion not just for the game but for the club as well back on the sideline Wednesday

One of the (many) things that annoyed me about Dyche was how little connection he seemed to have with the club.

You can get past that sort of thing if we're smashing teams left and right, but you don't get to be $@£# and aloof at the same time.

On Moyes, I've often said of his tenure here that if I could go back in time and be told the 11 years we had under him would I take it, I'd have said no.
That's one of the most insane statements I have seen on here given what came before and what has come afterwards. In the multiverse, the number of parallel universes where Everton achieved more in that period with a different manager is vanishingly small and vastly outweighed by us being relegated and ceasing to exist.

If we cant find a left back it wouldnt surpise me if moyes did what he did with lescott and maybe play branthwaite there or o'brien. It would depend if he thinks either of them could play there. He then may decide to play keane with tarkowski and if the left back is competent in that position it then adds to the threat from set pieces.

I thought that, but also personally began to feel once TFG where clearly going ahead, he had changed his tune in recent weeks.
A lot more ‘we’ instead of ‘this club’ etc….
Probably related to his appreciation that we were on the cusp of moving from ‘lucky to have him’ to lucky to keep his job.

Didn’t annoy me. I found it admirable that he very clearly and often mentioned he was a custodian.
