2024/25 David Moyes

How many people have managed the same club in their 30s,40s,50s and 60s? Doubt there would be many. John Coleman probably another, any more?

Darren Ferguson has a chance if he keeps bouncing back to Peterborough all the time.

He really isn’t .
Many former managers and players can lay claim to that appellation.
But not Moyes.
Only near unanimous assent gains you that .
And Moyes , whatever his qualities, is far far away from that .
He is just another mercenary passing through for a second time.
I hope we prosper while he is here , but I have no particular affinity towards him whatsoever.
He is.

I thought he came in with 9 games left in his first spell? We had about 30 points didn’t we? I remember thinking we’d actually done alright that season but Smith had just completely lost the players then back end of the season when we lost 6 in a row I think and went out the cup and the trajectory felt worse than the points total at the time actually was. I think Ipswich went down on only a few points more than we had when we fired Smith.
Yeah he came in back end of the season. March I think I read the other day.
I was only 11/12 but I remember us only playing a handful of games under him that first season.

I support him 100%. Glad he’s back. He will inspire the team. I don’t care anymore that he left. I haven’t stayed at my job my entire life. I’ve gone back to previous employers and they didn’t hate me. He said things he regrets and has reflected on it. We all have.

We can’t measure success and failure as binary. One team wins the PL. The other 19 aren’t failures. Hardware matters and it will come. But the biggest short-term success that’s measurable will be attacking, better recruitment, and attitude.

It’s attitude, man. He inherited a team in a relegation battle as did his predecessor. I agree Dyche had more to deal with. But is Moyes going to remind us every week about it? No way.

You can feel the change already. He left a decade ago for what he felt was the next best job. Okay. Whatever. Let it go. He loves this club. Like most of us at our jobs and life, we try and usually get better.

I think it’s good he left. Let’s see what wisdom he has to offer that his younger self didn’t have. Let him train up Baines. Now that Moyes is in the twilight years and less out for the next best thing, he can build the next best thing in Everton by growing us, creating our next manager, and maybe moving up into DoF and really providing a huge impact to our growth than he ever could as manager.

I’d really like him to add Carsley to the coaching staff, possibly with the long term intention that he succeeds him as manager.

Helluva post this mate, nice to see a bit of positivity.

I wasn’t over the moon about Moyes coming back, but I liked how he spoke both on the video and especially at the presser.

He light years ahead of Dyche, let’s give the man a chance and our full support.
