2024/25 David Moyes

Unless we make signings then he needs to go three at the back.

The only time we looked vaguely threatening was when mykolenko got the ball out wide far up the pitch.

Have no ball players in midfield, Harrison and Lindstrom add zero to the team.

It’s going to be a long end to the season.

Any tactic that involves Mykolenko playing high up the pitch shouldn't be entertained. Just too limited and his crossing is generally poor - better tonight granted.

Arfing at the "Anyone could take this squad to mid table" type shouts from not that long ago....

We had a bit of intent about us tonight, but Villa were better in every single position... fair result.. although the pen denials were appalling... as was DCL's miss

I reckon we'll be ok

Really surprised by his team selection. I'd have expected that if you'd come from Botafogo and not watched any Everton game, so thought "maybe keep it quite similar".

That team selection was lazy and with very little thought put into it. He didn't read the room at all with some of those selections tonight.

Really poor.

Going to need to be demanding signings from Mr Conk and sharpish

We did better tonight than in nearly all of our games in the last 2 years and looked like a football team. Lindstrom should've had an assist too, but DCL can't finish.

Moyes's big mistake here for me was using the exact same team that was failing for the entirety of the season. No reason to not hook Young or Harrison earlier, could've moved Ndiaye central or to the right if he wants to keep playing Harrison, but here we are. Hope he's learned a bit from this and doesn't repeat the same thing, but this is David Moyes after all.

Missed first half hour but that didn’t look any way different to our average poor performance level of the last few years

Got it all wrong tonight from the very start and cannot repeat that when we desperately need to win games, especially at home. We can never see Doucoure, Young and Harrison starting together again, yet very obviously will.

Right wing is priority. Iroe coming back will bring life back to midfield that is filled with 3 defensive midfielders that were never trained to create or attack in their entire career. It’s simply futile to spend energy transforming them to something they can never achieve.

We need ball carrier to break the first line and lure the back four out of their defensive shape to create space for our forward. Iroe, Mcneil and Ndiya can do that or sign a proper right winger.
