2024/25 David Moyes

But we didn’t get a draw, we didn’t score AGAIN. Can’t decide if that tepid performance was better or worse than the reverse fixture where we threw away the 2 goal lead.

Played better in the away game IMO.

Don't forget Duran scored a worldie and we hit the bar within 10mins of all that. Dom missed 2 one on ones

Precisely. People have a fundamental inability/unwillingess to appreciate multiple things can be true at the same time.

Saying it was better doesn't mean we were any good or suddenly means we're going to be fine.

Saying it was rubbish doesn't mean we didn't still create more than we have recently, let alone the pretty shocking non penalty.
Agree

I don't think there is any doubt whatsoever that both things are true. We were definitely better than the Forest and Bournemouth games, but no we still weren't good enough and the lack of quality was extremely concerning.

It's hard to blame a manager for a player failing to hit the target with a golden chance from 7 or 8 yards. That's just not good enough for top flight football.

They're mates. He's said it loads of times

I don’t care. Moyes has been brought in to do a job, Sean Dyche was sacked for failing at that job. I don’t value Dyche’s opinion on any of our players and neither should Moyes. I hope last night showed him everything he needed to know about some of Dyche’s mates in that squad, and he never listens to a word he has to say ever again.

Some of our fans are living in cloud cookoo land.

" The performance was better "

" Dyche coached technique out of players "

" Patterson should start "

The common denominator is the players are sub standard to our competitors and the quality year on year has got worse for the past 5 years.
I’d be careful who you call out fella, you said doucure would score last night so we’re not the only ones in cloud cookoo land are we……

You’ve made a massive mistake appointing him, unfortunately

The most negative, dour manager even seen at Sunderland - he started our demise, I genuinely hope he doesn’t oversee yours

Having a conversation with Dyche about the players and picking the exact same team Dyche would've picked is a concern, last night was a chance to change formation and/or change personnel and try to freshen things up.

Picking the same team and same tactics that have failed all season isn't the recipe for a change of results.

I am also disappointed in seeing the same formation and just can hope Moyes learned his lessons, but it was definitely a different approach, much more intention to play football and ground passing and just not hoofing and pray for god's help, almost even possession and 80% underline that.

Our biggest chance came from a long ball tho in the adding time, but we didn't play it to an isolated striker, there were 3-4 players around and this is how Bmouth and Forest scored against us.

He will steady us, which is what we need right now.

He’s built 2 very decent teams here in the past, I appreciate the games moved on and all that, but let’s not forget he won a European trophy 18 months ago.

If Moyes has really been taking advice from Dyche then that explains the continued freezing out of Patterson anyway. Don’t think there’s anyone in football I’d rather take advice from less than that toxic bully.

Dyche is haunting you from the grave. You'll never be free from your Dyche associated anguish

We created a couple of clear chances and had a clear penalty not given. That's already an improvement on recent weeks.

Better than other games, but still nowhere near good enough
But the passing was sloppier and the defence looked creaky. It was the same but different. Mykolenko had his best game for a while, Young had his worst. I didn't see anything last night that was significantly different to what I've seen before, and I don't expect to until we sign some more quality, because these players will still be crap whoever the manager is.
