Only positives for me were that we pressed a bit higher at times, Mykolenko was seemingly told it was ok to cross the half way line especially after half time and Moyes actually changed formation during a game and to three at the back which I had hoped he would start with and will now use going forwards as it would bring Ndaiye into a central position where he can influence the game.No I agree with that and it's not a case of saying we were any worse than usual, just that i'm not sure we were any better. It followed a very similar pattern to many other home games this year, we battled and huffed and puffed and got ourselves a couple of opportunities by slinging in crosses but ultimately weren't good enough to get a result. We've had loads of games like that this year and pretending we haven't is just bizarre revisionism. Again, this is in no way a criticism of Moyes, I just don't see the point in pretending there was loads to be positive about last night because I don't think there was.
DCL is being hammered but I think people don't take into account the thankless task he did for Dyche over 18 months of running himself into the ground without any support in the final third. It has drained him in every sense including his enjoyment of playing football. Yes of course he should score the big chance at the end and even the chance that was cleared off the line in the first half. Maybe I'm delusional but I believe if he can score a goal then he can go on a bit of a run with some confidence. The whole team lacked confidence. If we can beat Tottenham who will be missing their centre backs with a dodgy keeper from set pieces then I think that would really build some much needed confidence going forwards.
