I think your comment is a bit blinkered to be fair ,it would only be correct if Unsy is proven up to the job ,he could very well be the reason for the failure .Time will tell .….i wouldn’t particularly defend Unsworth but I think that’s a bit of a lazy statement, if players are not coming through a change of U23 coach is unlikely to resolve the situation.
One good season for Dom and part of one for Gordon does not a summer make .I have no problem with him being a blue but he hasn't managed to get enough into the first team( not squad ) for me . If the DBB rumours are true then it was coming anyway .Don't get the hate for Unsworth it's bizarre. Won the league twice in 5yrs. How bringing a winning mentality to the age group can be considered bad is just stupid. Playing philosophy is a much used modern term but it only works if the 1st team is worth copying, ours isn't and we change managers every 5 mins to replace them with a guy with a totally different philosophy.
Brought through Davies, Gordon , Simms, and was responsible for Dom coming to the club.
The trend under his management has definitely been downward. Didn't he play a lot of first team players during that league winning season as well?Don't get the hate for Unsworth it's bizarre. Its not really, The job of the coaching staff is to bring these lads on and teach them how to exploit/make the most of their talent levels. Where they have a standout attribute the coaches need to be working with them to support the rest of their game so they can become a rounded player who can make the step up to the first team. You only needed to listen to Unsworth at times in games shouting "second balls, second balls" thats all he ever did. There has been a complete lack of proper coaching at that level for a while now.My problem was more persisting with older players who aren't gonna be good enough for the first team. Your Garbutts and McAleny's of the world. There's only 11 places in the first team and player development is more important than winning youth trophies.
And, yeah I agree it was a bit of a lazy blanket statement.
Strategic review eh.David Unsworth To Depart Everton - Grand Old Team
David Unsworth will leave his position as the Club’s Academy Director and Under-23s manager. Unsworth said: “This has been one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my career. “Everyone knows what Everton means to me, it has been my whole life and I have loved every minute of my time...www.grandoldteam.com

Hopefully. It’s just a bit of gentle ribbing mate. I’m sure nobody actually blames him for the clubs failures and wishes him well.
Excuse my ignorance but I see this news has been welcomed. Why is this?
(I genuinely don’t have an opinion, I’m just interested.)
Good point although by the time most of the youngsters left , the damage might of already been done. A young players ( generally) most formative years are between 16-19. If they weren't being coached by the best available coaches with the best training methods, they may never reach their peak.Maybe they were just not good enough, who has left the academy to go prove him wrong
An Ebbrell or Jeffers would of been handy. He hasn't produced the next Messi, this has apparently angered some of our fans and because he was an ex player, it seen as a job for the boys. Both are bizarre
Good luck Rhino!
