It's not the point being made. If the competition in the league is poor then how can you believe someone who plays there can make an impact here? The pace, physicality and all round superior quality is likely to be overwhelming coming from that to this.
Maybe you can't but it's what scouts, managers, dof get paid to do. To recognise the ability in a player playing in a poor league to do better in a better league. I watch games in the league of Ireland all year and every so often a player comes along that clearly has the ability to move onto a better league. Seani Maguire is going to Preston from Cork City and he will do well in the Championship and play premiership football in the next two years. Good players playing in poorer leagues aren't poor players, they are guys seeking an opportunity to do it at a higher level

Sometimes you need to take a chance.

Have a little faith.

It's true the Dutch league is in a lull but there is always going to be players worthwhile buying from holland. Just look at spurs for starters vertongan, erikson and alderwield are all Ajax products

I'm actually very excited by this lad.

Technically he is very good and mentally he must be a great leader otherwise he wouldn't be the Ajax captain at his age.

Of course. But the fee then becomes the issue. By all means grab players from smaller leagues and lower divisions, but dont get ripped off in the process.

Lol. I think you'll find UEFA don't produce a list called 'most important'. If you believe that list, Cyprus's league is 'more important' than the Norway, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Iceland and Finland leagues. Do you also agree with that? Or that the Israeli league is 'more important' than the Scottish league?

Also if you believe the FIFA world rankings, Chile (4th) are better than France (6th) and Spain (10th).

The local 5 a side league at Goals is more important the Scottish league.

That UEFA rankings is right.

I think we have to disregard fees as a factor for a bit - firstly we have (supposedly) a bit of money so we'll be overcharged for a bit, and also with all the cash in the game, valuations are still not settling from the billions in cash flying about.

Look at Tim Cahill - no prem experience, but was a belter. If we'd have paid serious money for him he'd still have been a good signing.

Fees are frankly bonkers at the moment - and that isn't going to change any time soon.

Hopefully this deal gets done in the next few days then, if he can add the goals that we need, then i'm all for it, i'm not too sure where he will play position wise, but him and pickford are a good start to our business!
