Decent bars in/around town centre

Honestly, you don't need to leave Dale Street and it's offshoots.

Ship and Mitre at the bottom end, Rigbys/Lady of Mann both decent and always have guest ales on. Just around the corner you have the excellent Denbigh Castle with its cricket playing weasels (no, really.) Even the Railway up around the corner from Moorefields is a decent boozer.

Plenty of places to eat around there, too. (Rudys with its outstanding Pizza for one)
I like your choice of pubs but not Rudy's. I think the pizza is awful there but the waiting on staff are very fit and for some strange reason I always find an excuse to have a glass of wine in the back bar.

Hey ppl. I am in town for the game on Saturday. Where's good to go in the evening that's lively but not full of idiots or 18 year olds? Don't really drink beer, more of a cider/spirits man, so not too bothered about going to places with the best ales. Nice (veggie) food, decent live music, maybe somewhere with a dj later. Having read through the thread will defo try and have one in Denbighs at least. Any other new recommendations in the last couple yrs?

Fyi have already been to the Lisbon.
Cheers :)

Two bars off Hannover street next to eachother called brass monkey and pleasant company.

Both will be busy on a Saturday night but the idiots will be elsewhere.

Pleasant company was voted one of the best bars in the country not long ago.

Food, down the hatch is apparently the best for veggie type stuff.

Pleasant company is really good , its a cocktail bar really but if that’s your thing it’s very decent . A brief 5 min walk to the highly recommended bridewell (don’t miss out popping in ) if it’s still bright it’s got an outside as well , you could easily stop into to Albert Schenke on route .

The is a duke street food market around the corner so it’s got about a 7/8 food outlets and you mix or match to suit different food tastes . Have a look online but pretty sure there is a veggie option . Opposite that is lock and key , not really for beer (so ok For you ) but alright to nip in and the monroe is just up the road , it’s had a refurb . Not been in since it’s been trading but the new owner knows what he’s doing .

Up at the top end of town the hope st area has a load of new ‘ish’ bars , they aren’t cheap but they’ve been great for the area . The white hart , queen of hope street and the engineer .

Castle Street Townhouse, which is on Castle Street just off Dale Street & Water Street.

Then just up on Chavasse Park there's Loretta's Tavern & The Botanist - both nice little spots when the weather is good.

If you fancy little stroll over to the dock - both The Long Shot sports bar & The One O'Clock Gun are decent little spots for a drink. The Long Shot does some very decent bar food as well.

You shouldn't really have an issue with crowds of younger people as long as you stay clear of Concert Square, Slater Street, Seel Street & Bold Street later on. The places I've recommended are in probably what I would consider the nicer/tamer parts of the city centre (that aren't a bit 'out of the way' like Hope Street) and I live here so..

Good shouts. The only thing I'd say is that I'd try and avoid Hannover Street later on in the evening as the streets are filled with drunks at that point on a Saturday

Townhouse is decent , I find castle really good if the weather is good . If the weather is crap and outside space of no use it can be a bit restricted space wise. I’ll be there Saturday evening but on the arm .

Totally agree on the areas to avoid , personally I don’t like Matthew st either .

Loretta’s tavern , or whatever name change it’s under because it loves a rebrand I’d agree . Botanist again is decent if the weather Is , is a step up from when it was clubhouse for me with its premixed cocktails .

The dock is always sound

I can’t believe some of the prices these days in some of the bog standard bars around that area now . I mean if you’re going to drink there you’d expect to be paying buttons. Madness
