2021/22 Dele Alli

It's only pointless because Lampard seemingly doesn't rate him. Which when you consider the other midfield options is baffling.

Is he a midfield option though? He can only really play one specific position and that’s right next to the centre forward. He is worse in central midfield than Sigurdsson.

Yes because he’s been playing in the Premier League for 6 years. Southgate put him in midfield for the 2018 World Cup and it finished his England career because he was that bad.

I’m starting to think that the hamstring injury he got before that World Cup might have finished his career. Just doesn’t seem to have the pace he had before then.

I’m unaware of such an injury, he played 50 games that season, suffice to say I don’t think whatever injury you’re referring to finished his career.

I still think he'll play a significant part in our run in.

He's a second striker and Lampard hasn't played that setup.

There was people wondering why Alli didn't come in for Van De Beek instead of Holgate yesterday - I think those people don't understand that he plays off the striker.

I was more concerned he wasn't brought on when we were desperate for a goal. Lampard mentioned after the game he didn't want to unbalance the side but when you're 2-1 down in a pretty "free hit" away game you need to gamble and bring on attackers.

Likely would have been if Keane didn't get sent off/Gordon probably the better option at that point.

But that was the only subbed used the whole game which was to take off DCL whom Lampard says he needs to protect. Was a fitness sub not even a change-the-game sub.

If Keane wasn't sent off and Calvert-Lewin didn't need to go off, I'd agree it could be seen as concerning.

But I agree with Lampard on keeping balance and Alli is a second striker, and without a striker - I can see why the only change he made was late on/Gordon on for a bit of intensity and to protect Calvert-Lewin's fitness.
