2021/22 Dele Alli

If Keane wasn't sent off and Calvert-Lewin didn't need to go off, I'd agree it could be seen as concerning.

But I agree with Lampard on keeping balance and Alli is a second striker, and without a striker - I can see why the only change he made was late on/Gordon on for a bit of intensity and to protect Calvert-Lewin's fitness.

But Gray stay on for 90? Richy too? You got to just go for those games. 2-1 down, doesn't matter if you let in another just go for that draw. West Ham were naff.

Think for balance, yes.

I think the problem for/with Alli, is he doesn't fit into any of the setups Lampard has put out.

I think he needs to be played off the shoulder of Calvert-Lewin, but I'm not sure we have the midfield to support it.

In fairness goal difference could be what it comes down to. But I'd have rolled the dice myself.

I expected nothing from the game myself but at 2-1 and down to 10 men, whilst goal difference is important, they weren't playing great. We should have tried something unless he thought everything was fine and dandy at that point (it wasn't).

I see this issue also

To get the best out of him he needs to be making runs and you need someone who will ping one (accurately) and find him, we just don't have that player

A Danny Drinkwater type, will just sit and hold and do this type of stuff

Couldn't agree more.

Alli off DCL or Richy would be happening if we had any midfielder that was capable of protecting and sitting behind giving us the balance we need.

For all of Allans and Doucoures Pros/Cons, neither are an anchor. When you really, and I mean really look into it, our recruitment has been absolutely dire. The one player I think could do that sitting job is Delph, whos always injured.

£150k a week & he can’t even get in this side….

Not even when Mason Holgate is last resort.

We have the worst recruitment in the league by a country mile. The balance sheet doesn’t lie.
Absolutely correct.

Absurd business in January.

2 full backs neither of whom appear to be ready to play especially in a relegation fight.

Dele Alli who is completely the opposite of what we need.

El Ghazi who no one seems to want.

DVB is the only player remotely close to what we needed.

We needed a commanding centre half a starter right back and defensive midfielder and that was before the non sensical decision to sell our left back.

Yes it was very strange business, Alli signing was the strangest one if we do stay up then Frank rebuilds I do feel from a start of a new season Alli could become part of Franks plans a lot more, but for a relegation fight he’s not really who we should have been looking at.

I mean I can see the argument about him being a luxury player and starting him unbalancing the team. But what baffles me is why he doesn't get more of a go off the bench? He must be bunk in training

I find the Alli situation very strange we are told in January he would take some time to get to full fitness and sharpness.
When you compare with Brentford signing a guy who died on the pitch and brought back, had a pacemaker fitted. Had to leave his club due to Italian rules but is scoring and assisting pretty much every game.
How can Alli not be ready to play?

Eriksen is a dedicated professional who desperately wants to play the game and devoted his recovery time to getting fit and ready for his return. Dele Alli is an absolute waster who hasn't played a decent game of football since January 2019, has well documented off the field issues, and seemingly doesn't give a toss as long as some unlucky mark pays his wages.
