2022/23 Dele Alli

The problem, amongst many problems with us , is throughout the years we’ve no idea who signs anyone . Lampard signs maupay never really plays him having targeted bojan all through the window . Completely different players . When Koeman was here we signed 3 number 10 that looked like one each for the chairman , manager and DofF.

Im not defending lampard because his record is indefensible but I’d like to know , accountability wise who to blame for some of our transfer gaffs. Whether it’s thelwell , moshiri , lampard or Kenwright .

Dele Alli was signed by Bill Kenwright (January 2022) before the appointment of Kevin Thelwell (February 2022)

Well I've never seen him play cricket, that was Phil Neville gig in his teenage years, you've lost me. Terrible waste of Dele's career though, his heart just isn't in it, perhaps he could try another sport, professional e gamer perhaps?
Once that trajectory gets as steep as Alli's its very rare to see it turn around and come back up again, if that Palace game didn't refocus him I don't think anything will.

It’s only a balloon and a bit of snus, don’t know why everyone fumes about stuff like this.
If it was haaland nobody would be offended but a player on stupid wages , that like James’ get bigger by the week , with talent to burn who seems completely uninterested in football seemingly wasting his career photographed sat in a bit of a midden doing it people get worked up .

Cant think of a worse combo then Dele and Everton.

It was the structure of his deal that was the most damaging aspect. Given how it was set up we were always going to hedge our bet. Either Dele comes in and immediately plays so well that the 40 million is a no brainer given the goals, assists, points we gain and transfer fee we could command OR we treat him like a leper.

If it had been a two year loan or say a 10 million deal or a larger number of games before payments are triggered then he would have had chance to find his feet, perhaps get a run of games to build his confidence back and feel wanted. Both clubs should be ashamed imho for his treatment, of course Ali is no saint in all of this but the clubs had zero thought to his wellbeing and future.

Weighing it all up mate, the whole - something has gone thing - be it lust for football or mental health - i cant think of a worse place for him to rock up then here - i mean in the last 12 months we've been a mess, loosening managers, relegation scraps, selling players, protests, loans out - it was a poor move by us - if the lad was ever going to thrive it might have been in a stable and nurturing environment we are far from that - so a poor decision by the club.

Cant think of a worse combo then Dele and Everton.
You would hope given the sums involved that the club or colleagues would have tried to assist from a football motivation side, at least. Even if no other help was needed or wanted.

If that pic is real, it’s not the crime of the century, though hardly elite athlete behaviour. More of a sad look than if he’d been snapped in a golden Vegas hot tub with Johnny Depp and Samantha Mumba.

Lads with the talent and wealth this lad has shouldn’t be going in shops that still sell full sugar 7Up. Just wrong.

It’s at least £13m down the 🚽 in wages alone (less anything offset by loans), quite the hedge.

His clubs should be ashamed?….. he’s got agents / managers whose sole focus (after their own financial gain) is his well being and career trajectory. I’ve no doubt Everton would offer any help wanted, do he and his advisors actually want it though? Did they offer him to Everton on 1/2 his existing wages to take some off this pressure off him?
No one is forcing him to do anything, if whatever is going on is that bad for his health, he does have the option to walk away. Can’t see Everton standing in the way of saving themselves several million.

As for his future, it’s in his own hands more than anyone else’s. He has been given a financial ‘foot up’ most can only dream of. How he chooses to use it is on him. He is in the fortunate position to make any choices he wants, pay for any help he needs, choose whatever life he wants.

Its an absolute disgrace

More evidence why Bill Kenwright must be removed

Clearly signed without checking sufficiently what the issues with him were

£13 million down the drain for a club that has concerns it is a 'going concern'

From an arrogant clueless imbecile "Chairman" that has cost Everton big time down the years

Seeing he's had a fair percentage of this years wage paid for by besiktas it won't be that much and again had we not had him in the squad for the Palace game we would have had to persist with Gomes or bring on Davies to try and resurrect that game and probably wouldn't have and we would have gone down. That alone is worth 10 million so hardly down the toilet!

You have a point about the wages but they were getting market value, no one could know he was a completely busted flush at that moment and even if he had been on 30k we would have still not given him any time because of that 40 million swinging axe above our heads. So my point remains, the makeup of that deal gave him next to no chance to succeed and push him faster and further down the spiral he is in.

It is down the toilet

Besiktas didn't pay anything significant as Everton were trying to get some of his wages off the books too which are well over £100,000 a week

It’s primed for renegotiation. At the minute the structure doesn’t serve Everton, the player or spurs.
The structure wasnt particularly bad, looked to protect all sides, but it’s not panned out well. It would be sensible to restructure giving spurs some possiblility of a payment, with Everton and deli the incentive to at least give him another chance.
I don’t believe it will work out but, at the minute there is a strait jacket around his career
