Even though he's doing us no favours, I have to say I feel sorry for him. Had the world at his feet and been on the slide ever since.

He also needs to take a good look at the company he is keeping. His 'friends' may have just cost him his career.

I have absolutely no sympathy for this moron at all. He's a gown man, 27 years of age, and simply refuses to grow up. His "friends" are just another example of his stupidity and lack of judgement. Most people would do anything to have one single chance at living the life this simpleton has. He's squandered dozens of chances. He's an embarrassment and deserves everything that he's getting and far, far worse.

Why have sympathy for him? The lad has obviously not applied himself and thought he could get by on talent alone. Doesn't matter how good you are, you've got to put in the hard yards and be a professional.

Writing was on the wall when world class coach after world class coach at Spurs - Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte - all saw him and thought his attitude stank.

I think he’s an extreme case of what happens when young lads get everything they could ever want, too soon.

There’s plenty of other examples of players in similar circumstances, just not on as grand a scale. The likes of Michael Branch and Jose Baxter for us.

I think Premier League teams are trying to do more to support players so that they don’t get ahead of themselves, however the off one will slip through the net on that and Alli is one of them. It’s a shame for him as he could’ve been a great footballer.

Where are we getting £13mill from mate in terms of costs?
2.5 years wages of £100k p/w = £13m.
£100k p/w being the reported value of the contract he was awarded at Spurs and £13m suspected to be the balance inherited by Everton when picking up the remainder of that contract.
Assuming no appearance related transfer fees are paid of course.

There are some reports that his contract is incentive based though.

We all assume we just picked up his Spurs deal, do we really know?

This. And there is obviously a back-story. There always is.

Think the question is why would he forgo any money due to him from the contract he signed at Spurs? It would be in absolutely no one’s interest on his side (him or his % based agents)
Personally I’m inclined to think any incentive element is over and above his basic contract to get him here in the first place. £100k doesn’t put him in the top echelon of earners here, if he had kicked on and showed being worth anything like the £40m I suspect he would expect to be on par with our top earners.
There was talk of incentives when he signed, but iirc it was a bit wishy washy and ambiguous quite what they where or how they were applied.
All based on speculation like, but I don’t know anyone who would take a pay cut to do exactly the same job.

Well it’s a whole separate contract mate, he might have backed himself to come good and agreed to safeguards in the contract, for a fresh start and play ball.

We don’t really know for certain we can just make assumptions - 100k is an assumption on the basis of his Spurs deal, while there are reports that his contract in incentive based to:

In short we don’t really know with conflicting assumptions and reports.

I think it's a fairly reasonable assumption that he is on, at least what he was on at Spurs, it's not as if he is the type to take a pay cut to kick start his career. He has shown little desire to put in the effort required to do that. He seems like a lad who is happy to go through the motions and draw his inflated pay packet.
