2022/23 Dele Alli

As much as I have sympathy for Dele, and as much as I'd love him to get back to somewhere close to his best, to me he didn't look like a guy who was ready to give it all in the harsh environment that is the Premier League. For me, he looked fragile and vulnerable.
Yeah he looked pretty fragile and vulnerable whilst talking about getting molested at 6 years old

Unless that’s part of Dyche’s pre game team talk I’d imagine he’ll not be thinking about it before he steps out on the pitch

The guy has been unbelievably open and brave. During the interview he was understandably very nervous, but as it went on he seemed more at ease letting it out - hopefully a release. It was an emotional watch and shows that despite 'all the money they earn and if I was in their boots' comments they're unsurprisingly exactly like everyone else.
Human, fragile with other stuff going on.
I really hope we end up paying Spurs the money as the football side of his struggle would be sorted.

Unpopular opinion here (probably) but Alli signed a contract with the club knowing he had a drug addiction and other problems, wanting to retire, and no doubt knowing he couldn’t hack it

Obviously a shame for the lad what he’s been through and I wish him all the best but he’s had us off
So people who ‘have problems’ shouldn’t get jobs?
Drug addiction to a prescription sleeping pill, which if you took any time to research, you would see is a) quite a common prescription and b) known to be addictive and c) often given by premier league doctors to players.
Wanting to retire? Everything he has said is that he wants to get himself back.
Knowing he couldn’t hack it? What do you know about whether he ‘knew he couldn’t hack it’. I imagine most people go through stages of thinking they can’t hack it, which can be commonly referred to as imposter syndrome.

Proper Tory viewpoint of blaming the individual.

Been wondering if Spurs knew about Dele's addiction when they sold him to us. In the interview he mentions speaking to his best friends, Dyer and Kane about his issues so suspect that if he told them of his addiction they would have felt obliged to tell the management. Mourinho's comments about him not fulfilling his potential and calling him lazy then seem explicable if he knew Dele had this problem. So if Everton didn't know and Spurs did, but they didn't tell us about it, then could Everton argue breach of contract? We would have done physical tests but presumably sleeping tablets wouldn't show up on any testing - so if we weren't told about it how could we know? If we could argue breach of contract then could we sue them for return of monies we have already paid them? Had we not paid them whatever we have paid so far then presumably we wouldn't come close to breaching FFP. If it was found out that they didn't reveal to the buying club that they knew the player that they were selling had a drug addiction then surely the Premier league would have to take the severest action against them. Even the threat of litigation and punishment by the Premier League would surely prompt them to reach an agreement with us.

Agreed but proving it would be hard, that fella levey is the most horrible person in premiere league football and I hope the spurs supporters get him out eventually

Yeah, the clauses in the contract would not be fulfilled but equally anybody could also offer him a contract. If he's good enough to have earnt a new contract with us, he's gonna be good enough for someone else.
The problem with this is, we will never know cos he cant of been good enough for us without us breaking the deal with spurs.

Indeed.

Alternatively, we take the high road, pay what we owe (if they still want it), and do our best to help him, unlike Spurs who offloaded a problem.
