He's hit performances and heights in the game that not one other player we have has or ever will do.

We can't deny the lads ability. How many times did he start for us? How many minutes did he get? He was a luxury we couldn't risk but even so I recall the assist in the build up to Richarlisons last second crucial equaliser Vs Leicester and him turning around the Crystal Palace game.

It's a real shame how the deal has been structured. Helps nobody.

We can't rely on him next season, nor risk paying the fee but we don't really know. Have to trust Dyche and his team to know whether they can get him going.

If he can do 70% of what he did at Spurs then he's our best player.
Mental state is one of the hardest things to repair. This isn’t something that recently came up- he has been dealing with this for years. I’d love him to come back and be a top player again, but as Finners said the likelihood of recovering from this anytime soon is really low- hell it may never happen. Rehab and rainbows isn’t an instant fix. I hope everyone realizes that and is prepared for the possibility that he isn’t ready and may never be.

Lets see where he is. As someone who has had experience of MH issues, (both me and my late partner), once you accept it as normal, understand why it happens, and learn to deal with it, this thing called clarity arrives. The fear goes, the reasons become understandable, and you can junk the meds that really do not help without ^^^^^^ being arrived at. You also know when an issue is brewing.

Only he knows where he is. But in my experience, baring your soul to the public, or in my case, to friends and family, is a pretty significant step after the many steps he/we took in private.
Spot on mate

The ball he put to Rondon when we was beating Leeds 3 0 I think was class. I am not sure many players in are team at present could do that.

Agree re the deal structure.

Even in his last few years at Spurs, though, he wasn’t going close to 70% of what had come before.

There was zero basis for us signing him, beyond the foolishly optimistic “if he can rediscover his form…” nonsense that we’ve fallen for so many times in the past.

It was a very Everton transfer and it has turned out very Evertonly indeed.

Again, though, I agree - it’s a shame the silly deal structure means that we can’t even properly test the hypothesis that lightening his mental burden might help.

Ive said before, the whole thing needs some one - Dyche, Mosh or Thelwell - to have the end say on it.

If we can't financially, let him go. If we can and Dyche wants him, he stays. Just make the decision and then work on it.

If he doesn't get back to form then it's just a bad buy. But end of the day it was a buy and a structured deal we agreed to in the hope he'd be here for 3 years ripping it up.

A few years ago yes.

Unfortunately now south of £10.0m...
Right???

That’s the entirety of my point.

Dele of now is so far removed from Dele of 2018, it’s absolutely ridiculous. He might get back to those levels, but if I was a gambling man I wouldn’t bet on it.

Ravel Morrison was widely held to be the brightest prospect at United. Never got anywhere close to his potential despite numerous chances and few sympathetic managers.

Once more, to be clear:

Dele used to be dead good
He is no longer dead good
I wish him well but doubt a season will be enough time for him to rediscover his dead goodness
