Confirmed Signing Demarai Gray

If we play 4231 and Ritchie wide left and we sign a proper first choice right winger then fair enough. Just don’t know how Benitez will set up and if this is his plan. I hope you’re right.

From the Athletic article it looks like we still want a winger, Bailey, Chukwueze and McNeil. Bailey or Chukwueze would be better as they are right wingers who are left footed. Bailey can play either wing.

McNeil im not as sure about unless Benitez would move Richarlison go the right.

No I haven’t and that’s a fair point. It’s fair to say, in his position, he looks a class above Gray and Townsend though, no?

I mean, even Townsend managed to get 13 England caps, so don’t really think International Football is a fair indicator.

Personally, from that small sample size, he seems to have that great burst of pace and loves getting in the box, which if it links in well with say Townsend could be fantastic… could be a Baines/Pienaar, ultimately we don’t know.

Personally Gray, we cannot lose on it. It’s not taking a punt on a 28-year old, for £50m. It’s £1.5m on a lad who’s lost his way, if it comes good it’s really astute business, if not, we’re not haemorrhaged with £125k a week ala Bernard and Sigurdsson.

Do we know why Leverkusen were willing to let Gray go and take a loss on what they paid (apart from the obvious that he's cack) after only 6 months of an 18 month contract?
He was on the radio a month back maybe, talking about the challenges of settling into a foreign club and culture. General consensus is he’s trying really hard but different personalities made him feel cold sometimes.

again only good shrewd business if they produce on the pitch, the only way to deem value in a player is against how they perform on the pitch. If we paid a£100m for someone who wins us the league title, then that's good value, if we pay sod all and the player barely gets a game or does nothing on the pitch, it's bad value because wages still cost. Cheap still need to deliver.

Evertonians moan when we have 2 keepers on the bench and a bunch of useless kids.

Evertonians moan when we bolster the squad within the current financial restrictions.

Club cant win in fairness - players certainly good ones aint cheap and they ain't coming to sit on a midtable clubs bench.

Providing we sign a Bailey / McNeil then at least the starting 11 will have two quality wide players once Richarlison gets back from the Olympics.
