2023/24 Demarai Gray

I don' think there is any doubting the talent of Demarai Gray but it was not seen often enough and progressively less and less as his time with us went on.
I have no doubt we would like to get a fee for him but I think our squad is srtetched so thin we may not be able to do so, until January at least.

There is clearly a pattern with him, the same happened at Leicester and we got him for 1.5m for a reason.

If there's no transfer imminent, which appears to be the case, why would you have a pop at the manager when you are likely to be stuck at the club until Jan?

The guy has talent, but not much between the ears.

So dumb. Replacements were needed but he had already been put in bubble wrap and frozen out of the team. Just incompetence from every angle by the board. They didn’t even attempt to get a replacement on deadline day and now we have a disgruntled player and tens of millions unspent on what could have brought in the “replacement” they keep harping on about. Idiots. Stupids. Dumb dumbs. Morons.
Sometimes I think it's beyond negligence. These are basic things.

That Instagram post was a bit of a nob move really. I'm not sure what he was expecting to achieve posting that, but I can't see Dyche granting his move to earn 4x his wages in Saudi in a hurry. Neither can I see him back in the team again. He's painted himself into a corner now.

Equally it was a knob move of Dyche to freeze him out in the first place.

Do we know for a fact he did that?

Maybe Gray told him he was a crap manager and he didn't want to play for him?

Maybe Thelwell said he's got a moved lined up so don't play him?
At some point he was obvioulsy going to be a source of cash and so they didn't want to risk him.

Think some just want to throw whatever mud at Dyche - we are at that point in our manager cycle.

Dyche is old school. I don't know the facts but I expect that under Dyche you don't get in the match day squad unless you train hard. If this is the case and Gray hasn't been putting a shift in, then it wouldn't surprise me. I expect Dyche wouldn't freeze him out for no reason.

A club might be willing to pay x amount of millions for him but not the 10-15 we want for him. By posting that message he is hoping the club just take the lowball offer.

As I recall he agreed personal terms with Fulham around the time he was due to return, he’d have been last back anyway after the Gold Cup.

If he’d agreed terms with a potential relegation rival, not to mention our first opponents, it was probably the right decision to tell him to stay away, why train him when he’s more likely to be playing for the opposition on opening day? I think all parties probably expected the move to complete in a few days.

But Fulham didn’t pay the asking price and that was probably the time to bring him back in, at the latest once our game with them had passed.

So probably a bit stubborn on the club’s side although when a player has agreed personal terms elsewhere I can understand why you’d not want someone going through the motions knocking about.

I don’t think it’s that uncommon at clubs for players who are close to leaving to train away from the rest to protect from injury and also so they don’t effect the intensity of the main group. You can pick slight holes in Everton’s handling of it but we didn’t do anything that unusual and ultimately it wouldn’t have mattered if Al-Shabbab hadn’t messed him and us about last week.

Why is he making these comments now?

I'm guessing because the frustration of the situation is boiling over

Manager doesn't fancy him, so he's tried to get a move

The club has stopped that move from going ahead

Manager has frozen him out

Looks like he'll be training alone until at least January

So he's lashed out on social media, likely in the heat of the moment, something I think we'd all be capable of

Not sure why we expect professional athletes to show the temperament of St Francis of Assisi all of the time, especially when we wouldn't expect the same of ourselves in similar situations. Yeah, they make more money than us, but they're still human, fallible and just as much at mercy to their emotions as we are

He's not had a go at the supporters, or his fellow players, or even the club itself, but at the manager who could very well have been a right bell to him. I'm not going to pile on for that. Hopefully someone can be the adult in the room and get Dyche and Gray communicating so that maybe we can start integrating him back into the squad. Gray isn't an amazing player, but he'll provide an additional attacking option in a side that usually struggles to score goals, and then he can get his move in January, which will likely see us breaking even at the very least and likely making some money on him

There's a reason why Gray is blaming Dyche and not the club, ie Thelwell for blocking the move. Gray states that the manager doesn't believe in him. I thought Dyche was the best man manager? I thought Dyche was known for developing players? At least this was the sales pitch he sold to us all.
Gray can be the impact sub that we desperately need. It's on Dyche now to turn this situation around.

I don't mind him myself.

Would take the money clubs are offering because he's not great, but I think he does put a good shift in and dyche did freeze him out sort of when he came in last year.

Wasn't their rumours going around that he had to be separated from dyche at the end kf the Bournemouth game? Gray said why are we celebrating staying up last day again we need to do better, then got into with dyche over it?

Coady said something similar and was shafted out as well so never know
