2023/24 Demarai Gray

Why is he making these comments now?

I'm guessing because the frustration of the situation is boiling over

Manager doesn't fancy him, so he's tried to get a move

The club has stopped that move from going ahead

Manager has frozen him out

Looks like he'll be training alone until at least January

So he's lashed out on social media, likely in the heat of the moment, something I think we'd all be capable of

Not sure why we expect professional athletes to show the temperament of St Francis of Assisi all of the time, especially when we wouldn't expect the same of ourselves in similar situations. Yeah, they make more money than us, but they're still human, fallible and just as much at mercy to their emotions as we are

He's not had a go at the supporters, or his fellow players, or even the club itself, but at the manager who could very well have been a right bell to him. I'm not going to pile on for that. Hopefully someone can be the adult in the room and get Dyche and Gray communicating so that maybe we can start integrating him back into the squad. Gray isn't an amazing player, but he'll provide an additional attacking option in a side that usually struggles to score goals, and then he can get his move in January, which will likely see us breaking even at the very least and likely making some money on him
On the club “stopping his move from going ahead”: we accepted an offer from Al-Shabbab in good time, and they pulled the plug to sign Carrasco instead. They caused this problem.

What we have rejected is a lower offer from Al-Ettifaq that comes after our deadline to replace him. I think that’s completely correct: we all want to see Everton stop being mugged off in the transfer market, well we’d be mugs to take that.

On the freezing out, Dyche has said he wants Gray in the squad so it’s on Gray now. Like you say, hopefully he’s grown up enough to knuckle down and train and play well for a few months. It’s to everyone’s benefit as if he was reluctant about Saudi anyway his and our options could be better in January, PL clubs are always desperate for reinforcements then.

I don't mind him myself.

Would take the money clubs are offering because he's not great, but I think he does put a good shift in and dyche did freeze him out sort of when he came in last year.

Wasn't their rumours going around that he had to be separated from dyche at the end kf the Bournemouth game? Gray said why are we celebrating staying up last day again we need to do better, then got into with dyche over it?

Coady said something similar and was shafted out as well so never know
Not sure how that could be true because that’s exactly what Dyche was saying and exactly the attitude Dyche would like.

It was suggested yesterday that his beef was actually more with the club higher ups rather than Dyche himself. It's clear that he's seen his role diminish over the summer and wanted to move on to be a 'bigger fish' somewhere else, but since we messed up the end of the transfer window he's being made to stay.

I do get why he's upset.. I just don't agree with the public airing of it. Hopefully we move swiftly towards a positive resolution for all parties. For what it's worth, I'd like him to stay if he agreed to just get his head down now & help the team.
Has history on on this sort of stuff so we cant moan.

There are always players like this and when it comes down to it, it's up to Dyche to do better.
It just strikes me as poor man management.
Christ sake, just tell him that the club will work as hard as possible to facilitate a sale by Sep 1 but in the mean time the team really needs him, bury the hatchet till he leaves.
And where the hell is Gomes?
I think that's fair. Dyche could do better but I don't think he's the main issue. Dyche shouldn't have frozen him out completely but should have asserted his authority on this.

You would guess that it was the club who were briefing Alan Myers from early summer about a big offer from Saudi for Gray that was potentially too good to refuse.

Maybe that deal didn’t work out for whatever reason but it doesn’t tally with the idea that Gray went off and sold himself

I suspect the plan was to sell Gray to balance the books retain Iwobi and take loss on him as he was versatile, a hard worker and would do what the manager wants.

But then Gray wasn't agreed in time so they had to let Iwobi go instead.
Yes, honestly felt like that was the plan all summer and Myers was reporting it which means they wanted it known.

Can’t pretend on that the player went off on a solo run and sold himself
