Demba Ba

Saha is on £60K+ a week and his injury record is a lot worse than Ba's.

And actually, I'd not object to getting Saha off the wage books to get Demba here.

Lcab said beckford COULD be the only forward from last season left when we start the next. Reading between the lines, there must be some interest in Saha.

If Ba is near the top it must surely be because he's cheap.
Signing him frees up transfer funds for other players.

Anything near 5mil for Osman and I'd sell him....30 years old squad player....with the emergence of Rodwell and Barkley + the fact that Moyes most likely wont sell Cahill and Arteta + with Fellaini being our best midfielder...

Where will he play?

EDIT -- Yak 3/Yobo 4/Vaughan 2.5/Osman 5/Pienaar3 = 17.5 million GBP for a forward....

*Bangs head against desk*

1) Ba is not cheap. West Ham are cutting their losses due to relegation, on the proposed terms up to £6m on appearances. But if he wants a 100% pay rise he can do one.
2) There are no 'transfer funds for other players' determined as yet
3) Where has £5m come from? To sell Osman would be a daft move, he was exceptional towards the end of the season, he's not a squad player in the eyes of the manager.
4) Barkley. Have you seen him? Has anyone seen him? I'd imagine his emergence will generally start with him playing. Patience.
5) Yobo - when did 3m euros = £4m?
6) Yak - haven't seen hide nor hair of an offer from anyone yet....

The problem is wages are always complicated - there may be issues that giving Ba lots of cash mean that other players want (or are entitled to it) as well. Sooner or later you end up like a West Ham or a Villa and all your cash goes on paying decent players lots of money rather than upgrading the squad significantly.

So its not just about being stubborn and not giving the player what he wants - its about managing all the club finances.

Plus some players have a tendency to ask for much greater than they are worth - remember Ravanelli - or the Brazilian bloke whos name Ive forgotten

Emerson?

Spot on by the way. We could end up like Villa otherwise.

1 -- BA IS CHEAP.....6mil GBP is the rumoured TOTAL any club would have to pay Hoffenheim on condition he plays games -- this will be in the form of staged payments. The only issues would be his agent + signing on fees.

2 -- How do you know?

3 -- On here it has been rumoured that we have received and turned down an offer of 3.5mil for him....I clearly stated that if this was 5mil he should go. If you don't think Osman is a squad player + if you think Moyes sees Moyes as more than a squad player then I think you have to look at the statistics + the fact that he would never be in a 1st choice 11.

4 -- Its quite obvious to anyone (even moyes said himself) that but for Barkleys injury he would have got game time this season. Compare Rodwells game time since he broke into the squad to what should be expected of Barkley and it will go some way to replacing a squad player.

5 -- When did 4mil GBP - 3mil EUR ?

6 -- He's being touted around for 3mil GBP. Thought that was common knowledge

Do you follow football ? "Bangs head against desk".

EDIT -- In rodwells breakthrough season 08-09 he played 19 games.

I would be interested to learn how many games Osman played last season in centre midfield.

Trying to take a bit of a step back from all the transfer rumours this year, I always drive myself mad endlessly jabbing the F5 key, largely in vain.

That said, I've rather got my hopes up about Ba now and I'd genuinely be a bit gutted if he went anywhere else.

On the subject of Osman, I hope he stays, he's a good player and a brilliant squad player in many senses; He's a blue, not on a huge salary, happy to sit on the bench and he can play in a variety of positions.

Reminds me of a time when I 'touched' a girl in the cinema and she 'touched me' back.......

Sadly the cinema attendant was nearby and as the lights came on at the end of the movie I realised....

No more foreplay -- close the deal.....

To be fair he has a record (until the end of last season) of having 1 good game every 8-10.
He cant play wide.....so the "variery of positions" is a myth....its like having 10.5 men on the pitch...

He is a good squad player to have as long as he plays centrally. If an offer came in over the 3.5mil GBP mooted then Moyes has to seriously consider it.

Him and Hibbert are good blues.....what about our academy players who get released -- should we re-sign them because they are good blues BUT arent good enough playing wise ?

I want a massive overhaul this summer.

Both Hibbert and Osman are proven Premiership players, and that's a fact. don't think we can say that about the released academy players.

Sadly for you, that is Moyesies call, not yours. I'm all for freshening things up a bit over the summer. Leon Osman is not on my list of getting rid off, though

Anyone who wants to sell osman is a clown.... LOw cost wage can produce against any team below the top 4. An excellent squad player and first teamer where applicable. Moyesy won't let him go. Not on his nelly!
