Not been following the thread lately, but thanks to LCAB for updates, awesome mate really appreciate it.

Personally, I feel, Moyes should go two up top, more often, and most often, to be honest, regardless of what it does to the rest of the team. Man Utd had plenty of front two partnerships and this league is most often won by a team that plays two up top. Chelseas days are over, and are Arsenals days. Yorke and Cole, Cantona etc. They do it by playing two up front. Moyes should follow suit and get two goalscorers in that do the business. I hope he does. So I hope Demba Ba signs, though a big wage, I think he'd wanna repay it, rather than be a nobody, but personally can't see Moyes going two up front. I hope he does. I really do.

Controversial, i think the Yak still has it tbh, but your right hes out of love with us and irrelevent, im not sure Demba could hit the Yak heights though. Dont get me wrong ive been inpressed by the lid but im not expecting more then 15 goals a season from him IF he comes. When you consider we generally play 1 up front and 50 -60 goals gets you in and around Europe with a sturdy defence that a hell of a lot of goals that need to come from midfeild and else where.

I'm one of the Yak's staunchest supporters, mate. But:

1.) Yak was £11 miilion, Demba is seemingly a free agent + agent fees and such; considerably cheaper.

2.) Yak is on £55k a week, Demba apparently wants £50k.

3.) Demba is hitting his peak and is only 26. Yak is past his best and is about 42.

4.) Yak managed 11 in 20 in the champ with a -- speaking relatively -- better team than West Ham. With whom Demba managed 7 in 12 in the prem.

There is no contest for me. Add to that that Saha is unreliable, Becks needs a partner and Anichebe is Anichebe. Oh and we're skint.

So, to all the naysayers, point me to someone as good as or better than Demba, who's in the same price bracket?

And no. Shane Long isn't as good. Not yet, anyway. And we need someone who can hit the ground running.

I hope he signs. If DM can improve the right side too, Ba and Cahill will be almost impossible to defend with good service.

I don't want to be the newbie asking questions but does anyone know if this transfer relies on the out going players eg Yak & Yobo first? I would kind of expect the lack of transfer fee that he will effectively fill Pienaars slot on the wage bill, therefore making money available for more players?

And no, I don't want Bothroyd... youth would be a better option rather than waste money on these types of transfers.

There WILL be MORE outgoings , so , PERHAPS , hes lookin' to get a Fund , as it were , rather than do it in piecemeal , as it were .

Saha thinks aloud about transfer targets on his twitter quite alot. He's mentioned Odemwingie, Klose and SWP in recent months. It's just something he does, they don't necessarily reflect the club's actual targets.

Maybe it's right that the players are as in the dark as the fans are about new signings - Baines said the same thing in an interview last week.
