Demba Ba

Apperently their are a lot mpore mealtheir footballers out there then Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes - despite the longevity of their careers.

If you look at Utd over the years a lot of players left in search of a pay day, Butt, Phil Neville, Yorke, Tevez, Cole, Heinze, Bruce, Pallister, Hughes, Kanchelskies - even now you see the likes of Brown and O Shea considering moves.

He is canny is Fergie when it comes to wages. He knows how to pay well and not so well depending on the player.

Yeah but most are there because of the club and how big it is,so a decent wage is good enough for a large chunk of the squad players - how big the club is carries alot because they club is in the driving seat.

Nowdays, Chelsea broke that wage structure of putting **** players on big wages and let them sit on the bench...Pompy,Villa,Necastle, and Citeh followed, so the footballers and agents arent stupid as they're going to sniff out what that clubs benchmark is.

Ba and his agent will be saying....you've got no strikers of his calibre apart from Saha who isnt reliable as much as me, I dont have a transfer fee, and you've got 1st team players on 50K a week so here are my terms. He'll cost 2million and 50k a week.

Any decent striker is gonna cost around 6-10million anyway.

There's also his sell on fee. With his injury record you'd be talking 6million give or take.

Apologies if already posted on here but has anyone seen this artical.

A West Ham executive has said that he believes Demba Ba will join Everton after walking away from Upton Park.

Ba turned down a £50k a week contract at the Hammers in order to stay in the Premier League, and despite strong rumours last week saying Ba had agreed terms with Newcastle, the Senegalise striker may well join the Blues after all.

The executive was quoted in The Guardian as saying, ”He was offered £50,000 a-week wages and a half a million pound signing on fee. But he decided to walk away. We think he may now sign for Everton.”

Very true mate, but after reading the executioner im begining to have my doubts, his scoring record is really just alright when you break it down and despite rateing the lid when i have seen him, you also have to factor in dodgey knees and the fact that 50k a week over five years is 13 mill - factor in the 2 mill signing on fee and thats 17 mill.

Im not saying thats not the going rate etc - but we really need to be sure he is the right player - and not just jumping because he is on a free.

Lad's a good striker and we need one of those, he has made over 30 appearances this season gone for both Hoffenheim and West Ham and scored 14 goals, these are both mid-table to relegation battling sides so that's quite an impressive record, really a stand out player for West ham whenever i've watched them and it's possible he could score 20 odd goals for a midfield with our quality and he'll feel confident about himself with the team spirit we have here, don't forget he's younger than Beckford and Saha as well.

But he's not going to be here for 5 years and we'll get about 6mill selling him on depending on how well he does. 2 seasons tops. That takes it to around 8million.

And you've got to look at the fact of availability. We're in talks so it must mean we can buy and sign him up sharpish. Unless any other player pops up that offers a better deal and is a better player, I cant see why this would be a bad deal.

If we want to get anyone whos great we'd be talking 8million for the player and simila wages...

Evening LCAB mate, if this statement is true from the guardian its well less than 50k

The executive was quoted in The Guardian as saying, ”He was offered £50,000 a-week wages and a half a million pound signing on fee. But he decided to walk away. We think he may now sign for Everton.”

Ha ha it is blind darts to be fair, but full tilt hes averageing 15 goals a season. If were happy with that then hes our man, im begining to have reservations to be honest, i know we need depth but i reckon Jermaine and Saha are capable of 15 between him - would he be an improvement or another body?

50k a week is the rate , nothing insane about it Darren Bent is on 75 k , this is the norm 2011 , other than that there's always Craig Mckail Smith for 25k a week , I know were I'd put the money if I was Moyes / Kenwright

Indeed, why the hell we're dicking about on this with the crap we have up front is beyond me.

Yeah all good points mate!

Of course it would.

Saha is 32-33 and will not be able to play a full season.

Beckford will score...but he'll also be sussed out as I dont think he's got the extra dimension in his locker.

Ba offers a rounded striker who will create his own chances and not rely too much on service. Add him with what we've got and Cahill....if it went well, you'd get bored of watching the goals fly in.

The fee sounds good that wont break the bank and add Vellios and Silva hoping to get a chance, I'd say the strike force will be done for next season.

We'd then have to concentrate on a winger and a creative midfielder and hope to keep Rodwell (which I think we will) and Fellaini (dunno) then we'll be gravy
