For me, us taking Costa for four months is just us buying time while getting quality in on the short term. Better we do that then panic buy someone for over the odds. may end up in the same position in Jan but at least we would have had a reliable striker in for four months.

Agree. Would love to see him in an Everton shirt, even if only for four months.

For me, Costa is killing time until he goes to Atletico in the January window. His reputation wouldn't be enhanced much by a strong spell with us, but an injury would damage his prospects of a move, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him playing at 70% if he came to us for a few months to keep reasonably match fit but without ever busting a gut for the jersey.

Despite being a horrible snide, I'd be okay with a 100% firing Costa leading the line, but not one that's holding a lot back until he gets the move he really wants. We've got to be better than that.

Don't think a four month loan could ever be considered a massive statement tbh mate, but I agree it would be nice to have some proven bona fide quality up front until Christmas.

Trouble then is - who is selling great strikers in the January transfer window. But, one problem at a time I guess.

Ye I think if we replaced lukaku with costa until Jan, and he has the right effect. I think we'd have a better chance of getting a better striker by Jan because we could be in a better position. Obviously big IFS.

I agree that this would be the case for 99% of players seeking a move, but have you ever seen Costa not bust a gut? He literally can't help it, guy is insane.

Have any papers gone with it yet, even bad ones?

Not going to believe it off the back of some twitter rumour. Same happened with Van Dijk earlier in the summer.

There are certain players who actually give there all, all the time.
I think costa is one of them, born winner, can see that with the aggression etc he plays with.

Nope. Like you say, all over the web, but zippo with any credibility. The narrative does make a strange sense though.

Madrid get a match fit Costa, Chelsea solve a problem, he slots against Chelseas and our rivals.

Been a shareholder for years, and his Evertonian background would trump 99% on here.

How can you actually make a statement like that on a forum where you don't know the vast majority of people? Unless part of the sign up process now is "What's your Evertonian background in comparison to The Esk?", in which case I stand corrected.

There's no doubting his knowledge but you're starting to sound a bit like his PR manager.
