...its not a matter of it being good or bad for Everton, it’s a matter of getting the right appointments at DoF and manager level.

I doubt Ancelotti wants the burden of identifying players, although I’m sure he makes suggestions to Brands. Ultimately, though, the DoF is accountable for all transfers and contract negotiations under his watch because he has the power of veto.

The system isn’t wrong.

Martinez handed us a profit from his purchases; no Everton DoF has or will.

the majority of that was from Lukaku, which when you factor in his loan fee as well and the amount we probably paid Chelsea in the sell on clause the margin is probably less than what we’d make if we sold Richarlison now. Stones and Barkley were not his signings. Struggling to think of anyone else we sold at a profit.

Needless to say its a very important summer.

We need to cut the squad, move a lot out of the club, and get the right 3 or 4 players in.

If we signed a midfielder, a full back and a winger who all could get into the first team id be very happy.

I haven't factored them in. However, their value was increased under Martinez. Can you imagine Stones attracting a bid of £50M from moneybags City if he'd been played by Moyes as a FB? Martinez played him as a ball carying CB and we conned City on the basis of that. As for Barkley: he'd have been getting loaned out for years more if Martinez hadn't brought him in from the cold and got him playing in behind the attack.

We've had a lot of very expensive flops since we first hired a DOF. Right now we have one of the most respected managers in world football who very good players would love to play for. So in my opinion Carlo should set the list and Brands goes out to get players on the list, if a player turns us down then Carlo decides on the alternative. The buck stops with Ancholotti.
