No idea what they were. I do know he was pretty crap though. Profited from others work all his career.

Oh, DOF thread. Soz. Not sure if I am honest.

A trophy winning, FIFA top 10 ranked coach is not crap.

I notice Greg O'Keeffe was lauding El Gaffer's time here in the Athletic a couple of days back. No idea what he said because I dont subscribe, but it underlines that Martinez's virtues have not been forgotten and he's going to look better as time goes by when we fail to hit the heights of the Camelot Season of 2013/14 for years to come.

You say no excuses, but nobody allows mitigation.

He hasn't been poor, he just hasn't been perfect, but people expect perfection.
Oh come on, he had a poor window last year.

That can't be that controversial to say.

Not one of the players he's brought in there has improved us.

I won't hold Gomes against him because of his injury but he definitely has question marks around him over the likes of Delph, Iwobi, Kean and G'Bamin.

Gmblammo hasn't played, how on earth can he be considered a bad buy? Hes suffered 2 pretty serious injuries, before he joined us he had played 30+ games every single season and never missed more than 3 games in a row.

Delph we knew about, hence why his fee was so small.

Kean hasn't really had a chance due to DCL and Rico being in fine form.

And Iwobi was down to Silva...........

But most players are signed on 3,4,5 year contracts, you don't evaluate them after 6months.

It only works if you retain a manager for a long time, or your recruitment policy for managers is broadly similar all along in terms of philosophy.

I had high hopes for Brands and... I dunno, I guess I still do, because in many ways the jury is still out on him.

But christ has he authorised some truly shocking transfers in recent years - its very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt when he presumably watched Iwobi play football at Arsenal and still authorised that panic buy...

You answered your own question on GBamin. A year of wages and a 20 million fee and no return all year. That's a poor buy.

Delph we shouldn't have bought. He's a useless egotistical nob who honestly hasn't set himself apart at all or brought any "leadership" to speak of when he does make it on to the pitch.

Kean I had high hopes for but that's going down as another swing and a miss at the moment as the 3rd manager in a season clearly doesn't rate him.

Calling Iwobi a Silva signing is just like @davek making out like Martinez had nothing to do with Niasse.

There been next to nil return for a large outlay.

It was a bad window. I don't think anyone has looked at one of these players he signed last year and thought "Thank god we brought that fella in, he's definitely improved us." They haven't.

He's gone the same way as Walsh. Poor signings and a manage sacked in under a year and a half under his watch and support. It's been poor.

You consider it poor, but I consider it unlucky with injuries.

People judging Delph on what he's done off the pitch.

He's been terrible on the pitch unfortunately. I was one of those who thought that was a decent signing - I was wrong.

It's very difficult to defend Brands unfortunately, and I say that because I want to as I like the way he presents himself.

Unlucky with injuries maybe gets him off the hook for GBamin and Gomes. No saving grace there for Kean and Iwobi.

I'm judging Delph on what he's done on the pitch as well which has been just as poor as our other sad excuses for central midfielders.

Most people thought it would be a good signing.

But now we have hindsight.
