Brendon you do this because you are overwhelmed. I very strongly suspect you have a lot going on that's making you depressed. There is though a caveat I believe. That is I strongly believe your probably catastrophising EVERYTHING. Your mental state is not allowing you to look at your over all situation dispassionately. For you Brendon, everything is bad when in all actualities they are not. The problems you are experiencing are NOT insurmountable, they can be addressed but you need help in recognising what you have control over and subsequently can change for the better, and the stuff you can't control. It's not your fault bud, your mind set - " default " button - is set at " everything is s**t in my life, when only some of it is.
You need help in sorting out the wood for the trees, and you need reassurence that things can wait, and don't have to be fixed now. Your mentally unwell so please, no high expectations. Just steady progress, working on the things that matter, there will be stuff that can wait. Get professional help - I think a needs assessment would be good. Someone to work with you and identify what help you need, how urgent do you need it and how to put a plan in place so you get the help you need.
