Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

doctor and macmillan nurse should be visiting in the next few days to check my chest again, might be another infection. i'm on a course of antibiotics and anti sickness pills, but I am still heaving all the time and coughing up a lot of gunk, sorry for being so graphic, but it so constant and wears me out, I can't walk far and all I want to do is sleep.

I'm sorry your not feeling great mate. Hope you feel a little better today and remember we're all here do you feel you wanna talk. I hope Saturday Everton give you a little lift and 3 points mate ;)

Can I just flag up this wonderful site again for all the recent posters on here :

The Mental Health Forum.
.....................................

NHS run and you need to sign in, same as here.

Online community of people with mental health issues and their friends.

Wonderful site for support, information and getting it all out in the open.

I'm really surprised that GPs etc don't recommend this site when people first go to see them.

Today marks 2 years since Robin Williams commited suicide...

Still gutted, personally, but that doesn't matter - what matters is the prevention of these events.

Don't forget - there's always someone willing to listen to you, be it here or on the several suicide watchlines/prevention services available, and don't ever, ever, EVER think that today (or any day for that matter) is a good day to die.

Posted on here a few times in the past..... I suffer anxiety on and off and currently I have it big time! Am gettin obsessed with world war again, it's happened before, I get a real sense of impending doom- it's horrible and irrational but I just can't help thinking about it! Is this famiiar to anyone? I was prescribed anti depressant for the anxiety about a year back but never took them..... Anyone else took them solely for anxiety? Any good?

Without being patronising mate, you're first port of call needs to be a GP to refer you for CBT or something similar to break the cycle of worry that you're locked in at the moment , that's causing the anxiety. It could take months due to waiting lists, so the sooner the better.

There are anti depressants that have anti anxiety properties, a popular one being Venlafaxine.

They're hit and miss though, in that it can take a while for you to find the right one that works for you.

I posted earlier about the - MENTAL HEALTH FORUM.

Have a look on there mate, there's a whole thread dedicated to people that have similar problems with your type of anxiety.

Hope this helps x

Ps - Pm me if you want to speak privately.

I suffered terribly for years from " foreboding " anxiety. It's a curse, as it ends up controlling your life.

One thing that helped me enormously was running, even though a lot of the time I had to really force myself to do it. The endorphins released deffo help. Maybe excersise could help you with this ?

well this is a day we thought I wouldn't see, the start of a new season. this is the first opening home game I have missed in at least 10 years.
starting new medication today so a new beginning all round. trying to be positive today, still feel lousy but pushing myself to do things, going to try and go to the pub for 1/2 hour before the game starts. hope everyone has a good day and see you all in the fume thread later.
