Went much easier than I expected, I knew a couple of people, still anxious but it's done for another day.
Well in mate, hopefully you'll sleep better tonight and tomorrow won't be half as stressful![]()

Hi just caught up with this. Glad it went well. Have you had an occupational health referral? In my experience most of these are beneficial to the employee. They make suggestions about how to best help you at work. Given your condition you could probably take somebody with you as support. Also are you doing a phased return? You should be after such a long time off but that is completely up to you. Good luck for the rest of the week. Thanks for the support and kind words everyone, I'm ready to go, only in until 12 so I'll let you know how it goes.

Take heart @Blue Cheese.I actually had my back to work with occy health last week and they have put me on phased return. I did get a referral before I was off but they gave me the wrong number, hence why I ended up at first steps instead of works own. Typical of my luck that kind of thing.
Take heart @Blue Cheese.
You concluded with, "Typical of my luck etc"; as a statement of fact. Being positive here, the type of situation you have just described would have been a massive blow to you yesterday.
Already you are showing a progressive spirit. As you say, quite rightly, one day at a time. But you have already made a great step forward today. That must give you great heart, and with a realism to take things progressively forward at a realistic pace.
Massive spirit Cheese, if I may use the abbreviation, and a massive plus to you.
It never helps when describing a condition, when somebody comes back with a reply of having similar. And despite me knowing that, I will still reply in that manner. But please bear with me, as I hope to reply in a positive way. Thanks, It made it easier that I was having one of my good days as well, I can only see how things turn out with my neck.

I was diagnosed with spondylosis in 1994, but was informed by my GP that while it would be difficult, there were ways to ease the discomfort.
Simple things, but effective things. Obviously pain killers do help, and being non-addictive, they are a blessing at times.
In the comfort and privacy of your own home, several other low key remedies help.
I found a neck-cushion, which is heated in a microwave, brings a lot of relaxing of pain. As will an infra red heat lamp. Gently warmed olive oil applied by your own fair hand is a great, and lasting. benefit to any joint pain. Then, of course, there are numerous ointments your GP can prescribe for you.
At the outset, because I had delayed having my condition diagnosed for too long, I tried a remedy as a booster. It's not the tastiest of cures, but my word, it worked.
Have a Tupperwear (showing my age here) with a lid, and put a small measure of milk in it. Now for the good part. Put two tea spoons full of cod liver oil in and, lid up and shake. It tastes a bit unfriendly, but if you have a very sweet biscuit, like a Penguin, handy and unwrapped to wolf down then the task has enormous and long term benefits. Only once a day, mind. Also, it doesn't take too many days before you actually get used to it.
Everybody is different, but I only did this course for about a fortnight. Such were the benefits though, I worked and played sport and lived an active life thereafter without any real problems.
Here we are, some 22 years later, and I feel relatively better than when I did then.
When considering deterioration caused by advancing years, I think the efforts and remedies are worth considering.
I don't know if any of the above helps, or even apply to your condition, so please forgive me if they are of no use.
Irrespective, I trust things do work out for you, and you have a better quality of life going forward than than you have recently endured.

Streuth Cheese, I had no idea it was that much of a problem. All good advice, on its own the spondylosis is not that bad, it's how it affects other areas that's the problem. I have a protrusion around C6 which basically digs into my trapezious muscle which in turn traps nerves and makes my whole back spasm nearly 100% of the day. That then causes all my muscles in my back to be taught which pulls on my extenders and causes headaches. I have pain killing injections on top of the meds.
The Drs couldn't pin point where the pain was coming from and basically told me there was nothing they could do(the neurosurgeon). I have been to physios, osteopaths the lot, nothing helps and nobody can figure out what is wrong. I've been left to it and I am in pain all day everyday from it.
That's another part of my depression, it's so difficult being in constant pain it gets me down. I need to goto work because I want to save to go private and see if i can get it sorted.
Hope that makes sense.

While my advice was largely useless, what I would write, that despite your overwhelming problems, you do have an incredible fortitude in your outlook. That is a huge plus, and one which obviously helps your personal desire to progress.
Your phrase, "to save to go private", shows a strong desire to not accept defeat.
Without sounding selfish, your words will be an inspiration to all who read them.
You have seen too much adversity, but have still come through it with a positive attitude. The one thing I have had through this episode as opposed to in the past is a little bit of fight and determination. I know from experience that you can come out of the other side because i have before. That doesn't make it any easier on a day to day basis but even though I've had thoughts about the worst, this time I'm saying no, it's not beating me.
I honestly believe that I was just about to get into some of the deep stuff with my therapist before my little relapse(prob not the right word) last and I think that going through that may help me in the future. If only my neck could be sorted out.
