Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

How do you stop overthinking? Basically would like to live “in the moment more”

Ive bascislly got nothing to worry about but sumtimes ill overthink to the point of worry and cant get rid of like a sense of “dread” but the dread is none existant if that makes sense

Basically making myself stressed when got nothing to stress over

Any words of wisdom?

Diaphragmatic breathing helps with mindfulness. Focus on your breath for a while and then other things will follow suit.

It's a nice sentiment but I don't think a justgiving page to get a sky subscription for someone is really the best solution, maybe it's just me. I'd be trying some of the stuff @anjelikaferrett has mentioned and persist with trying to communicate with her without the need to throw money at sky subscriptions to gain her affections.

I appreciate it's easier said than done, I have a 13 year old and he's an absolute knobhead for the most part with little to no interest in anything I have to say, but actually I'm a knobhead, so therein lies the problem.

Hi mate,

What the tablets should make you do is feel " normal " again.

It can cause a bit of anxiety when it happens, as you become so used to being on your arse or wired, that when they start to work it almost feels that something is wrong due to you having forgotten what feeling " normal " is like.

My advice is to take the tablets religiously at the same time(s) every day, that way it becomes part of your daily routine and you won`t forget to take them. Plus they`ll work as they`re supposed to to due to the correct levels of meds always being in your body.

Once they start working, don`t be tempted to stop taking them, as you`re now " better " and don`t need to take them anymore. ( a lot do this ).

It`s the tablets that are making you feel better, so keep taking them.

They`re not an exact science, so you may need to change your dose ( up / down ) or even change them if they`re not working as they should.

You`re GP should be monitoring this and maintaining regular contact with you ?

Keep up the good work mate, it`s always great to read positive posts like yours. ;)

think im finally starting to feel the benefits of these tabs, my Mrs pointed it out to me, I was playing with the baby and pair of us laughing our asses off and she walked in and said "seems like your tablets are working", I had a big grin on my face and said "haha yeah seems to be" I hadn't noticed til she said but ive been walking round with a smirk rather than miserable, and definitely feel more postitive

fingers crossed this continues, but things are deffo looking up

It`s weird isn`t it, you almost forget what it`s like to feel normal ?

It`s so hard to explain to someone who`s never experienced depression / anxiety ( both ), as unless you`ve experienced it yourself, you can never relate to it.

Keep up the good work mate and keep posting ;)

indeed mate, is quite strange, normal feels very weird as you say, feels like im intoxicated in someway, like when you have had a couple of pints and feel giddy but not pissed haha

I’m like a nervous wreck st the minute and feel trapped in my body. I get fear of even doing the simple things like walk the shop. I’ve been trying to keep the lid on a panic attack all day .

Drs first thing tomorrow. I haven’t felt this weird in months

Yes mate . I’ve been spiralling for the last few weeks . Today is the tipping point . I hate contacting the Drs I don’t like being an issue .

I know from my own experiences that some meds don`t seem to work at a constant level permanently and need tweaking up / down.

I`m not an expert, but I`m guessing that your body gets used to them, same as all drugs :hayee:

You`ve done the right thing going to the docs mate and you won`t be looked at as a burden ;)

You'll feel better after talking to the doctor. Like a weight has been lifted.

Is there anyone at home you can speak to?

Recently decided to come off my medication entirely. Been on it the best part of 2 years but over the past few months I began to take them less frequently and about 2 weeks ago I stopped completely, felt it was time to give it a proper go and see the results. Hasn't been easy, had some low days for sure, but it hasn't been as bad as I imagined. I have some in my house in case of a massive nosedive and I need to return to them but for now I'm seeing how long I go without them and if I can keep it that permanently.

Still had days of anxiety and restlessness, likely related to what I mentioned above. Letting small things bother me quite a lot, being a little bit snappy at people and less upbeat. Nothing major, just not exactly spending all day smiling or feeling at ease. Still wrestling with the same old anxietes, where am I going in life, why does nothing ever seem to go right, why do people I don't feel have as much to offer me seem to get ahead quicker, why can't I get excited for anything?

Meh, life sucks a lot of time, doesn't feel like it's worth living. Hopefully something comes along soon because I'm REALLY fed up and felt the way before I decided to come off the tablets.
