Does the club need 'rebranding'? Something based around the new location?

Regarding our stadium being used for the euros, there’s no way we’re gonna let them stick ‘Liverpool’ on the advertising hoarding surrounding the pitch are we?

It’s just gonna have to be ‘Everton’ surely?
That'd be a way of letting some people know where Everton is, if that's what we're looking for.

'The Originals' just isn't cutting it.

People around the world:

"The Originals? Why are they called that?"

Other people around the world answering them:

"Because they were the first senior professional club in the city of Liverpool"

All people around the world:

*shrug*

It's a mundane name with zero cut through that makes us sound like a failed 1960s beat combo from Birkenhead.

I am still not getting the point really.

You think that it will be any different with a river motif?

I lived in Germany for about 10 years, in my own experience I would say that the people who didn't know already (There were a few dotted around that knew their history or at least the basics) were actually quite interested to know that we were before Liverpool, they were interested to know how Liverpool came about. I very much doubt that any of them would show the same interest in me saying 'Oh, yeah, our new ground is next to the Mersey River, that is why we have a brand of clothing with the river motif on it'.

However, I do like the idea of a new range of clothing, maybe even stretching to something around the ground. A subtle river motif, even if it is a short lived special celebration range for the new ground. I very very much doubt it will add anything to any conversations, like the above. I also very much doubt it would come anywhere near binge a catalyst to global recognition. Just simply a nice merchandise range for the fans.

You wont have to do any explaining: that connection will become very apparent to them every week when they see an Everton game. Everton and the River Mersey are going to be like Lennon & McCartney.

It's just a statement of fact: we are now in that location on the riverside and a new twist to our identity will inevitable emerge that reflects it.

It'll be intriguing to see how this develops over time. How quickly the fans recognise and adapt to it and how much the club emphasises it (a lot I would imagine).

Indeed, but we’ve had a solid, well recognised brand for a number of years, and the Commercial dept seem incapable of getting anywhere near exploiting its potential.
Binning that for something new wouldn’t change anything and only gives them an excuse for more years.

When we get anywhere near our commercial income potential, then think about a rebrand to grow headroom further.

In a some ways BMD is a rebrand, or at least a huge marketing opportunity, with free press coverage all over the place. Let’s see what sort of a blunt box cutter the Commercial dept brings to that gunfight first… I’m not that hopeful, unless the new owners start getting properly ambitious about increasingly income.

Whether they care or not, the millions around the world who follow the Premier League and who don't already know, will know when we play Liverpool at BMD next season that Everton is in Liverpool which is on the banks of the River Mersey. Those who aren't interested in football don't matter.

Regular successful entry to and being competitive in the Premier League and Champions League would bring all the PR we want. Seville have won how many Europa Leagues and you barely see a shirt of theirs anywhere.
The bandwidth outside the regularly successful clubs is very thin.

This is true.
Success itself would be great and long overdue, but to become a household name worldwide we require a period of sustained success.

I tried a couple as well, with the towers along the dock wall and some "Bramley Moore" gates
