Dominic Calvert Lewin for Beto.

…as I say, I’m not defending Dyche but I wasn’t surprised when DCL replaced Beto. Clearly it annoyed @Street end man but not sure many thought it was outrageous.

Dyche ended up chasing the game. Beto lacked support and did his best but he showed his limitations today. I wasn’t surprised he was withdrawn.
But the change was so early, when the areas that mattered were addressed only when the game was lost.

When I saw Dom getting stripped my first thought was "about bloody time "

Thought Dyche is going for it here .
Let's give their defence something to think about as they were walking round like a training game.

How wrong was I couldn't believe it was Beto that was coming off, Dom was even more ineffective than Beto.

That wasn't a change in tactics it was jus a change of personal.

…so wtf are you doing opening a thread about it?
It was a Dyche clanger ended up 442 any way surely your best two forwards is the answer - playing long balls to them may have been better 90 seconds later too late we were 1-0 down - Then Gardner replaced Doucs to play on the wing -

Dyche today got the team selection wrong & the substitutions wrong - he is now in the Lampard position of you dont know what you are doing - first corner at home took 71 minutes FGS .....

3 home games, Zero goals .... Relegation candidates already ....

….because he was probably happy it was still 0-0. I still can’t understand why you were so upset at Beto coming off but let’s agree to disagree.
Hard to explain in type but i was not upset, just baffled. The way soft lad set us up it didn't matter who was the lone 9, he was never getting a sniff. My point was it's a silly substitution when the problems lay elsewhere. I respect your grasp of the game but we seem to differ on this one.

Possibly the most manic substitution I've ever seen in professional football. Swapping a like for like striker when we're being run ragged all over the pitch. Neither of them had a chance with the set up behind them.

Seriously what was that swap for when changes were begging in other more vastly important areas? Truly shocked by that, anyone have a guess at why he did it? I'm still struggling to make any sense of it.
We know DCL can hold it up and mix it in the PL. i will call Dyche out for a lot but this was a right change

All over the park. No composure on the ball. No control, no pass. These are 2nd rate players. They are the bottle of Sherry from Netto.

Happy I disagree he had to change tactics not like for like .... We were shocking today - his excuse we are miles off Arsenal - We were last year when a spirited display seen us beat them 1-0 under him .....

Lots of folks missing the actual reason - Beto ran himself into the ground because they passed us off of our own park; we need to get minutes in the legs for Calvert-Lewin to get up to speed. That's why the sub happened - its a long term approach.

Many thanks

last years result was a bit flukey to be honest but you cant argue that the performance was more full throated than today's milk toast team. What was McNeil doing?
I hate to be the one to say it but are we missing Iwobi?
Dyches plan today - lump it up to Beto/DCL/Chermiti, everyone else behind the ball and goalside.
He is just not that good a coach. The Arsenal did not play that well today.
Tried to give Arteta a master class and ended up giving him 3 points.

We were 0-0 when he made that substitution - 90 seconds later 1-0 down - left him with no top pairing upfront -

many thanks

Jesus, I've only just realised I signed that message off like I'm at work?! Good grief I need to take some leave...

Bit harsh to link the goal back though, Beto not on the pitch didn't make us concede to a set piece

…I thought he went 4-4-2 when DCL came on. I know some think he’s the 2nd coming but Beto looked low on quality and ended up chasing shadows. I have no issue with him being withdrawn for a striker more suited as a target man.
Nothing came through midfield and nothing came over the top. I just don't think it mattered who was up front.
