So would 16 be ok or 15 or maybe 13.
Not sure what your point is?

Mine is that when people say '20 goal a season striker', they're not really being as specific as some people are suggesting. It's a ball park figure, the idea is that the player scores regularly. Nobody thinks Harry Kane isn't a '20 goal a season striker' even though he only got 17 last year.

Would 15 or 16 be OK for me? Absolutely, yes. 12 would be a very good return for Calvert-Lewin, it would be double his previous best which would be great for him. Whether it would be enough to have us in the sort of league position we're all hoping for is a different question though.

Totally agree

Getting a 20 goal a season striker outside the top 5 is a massive ask

But we should be aiming for a forward who can get us at least double figures, Even the bottom teams like Fulham/Burnley and Newcastle managed that

DCL has 11 goals in 80 games, I don't know how any blue with a shred of ambition thinks this lad is good enough

Me personally, although I do defend him quite a lot, am waiting just to see if it clicks for the lad, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it all just falls into place for him.

I'm watching development rather than already deciding he is the finished article, He does have good attributes but yes, he needs to add goals. I always root for the young lads as we all know not many make it at the highest level.

My point is we need someone hitting the 20 goals mark all the top sides have, that's why they are in the top five, and hope and want as much as you or me want, Lewin ain't that goalscorer.

We were 10 or so goals behind Chelsea and Spurs, sure Lewin could do with converting some of his chances, then again Gomes needs to add goals also, not Siggy or Richarlson could do much more. Suffice to say having 20 goal machine is not the clear answer as some suggest. It's the matches we score in but either draw or end up losing was the bigger problem.

DCL is definitely not rubbish, he is just not good enough for our future aspirations that is all. If he is compared with players from a top 6 squad he might be regarded as "rubbiish", but this is Everton.

He’s deffo not rubbish but he would be up against the top 6 but because he’s Everton he’s not?

Ecky thump.

Have you not realised that to get to the top 6 you need players comparable to top 6 players?

Have you not realised that is precisely why we need players of a better standard than DCL if we aspire to compete with the top 6? I was rejecting an earlier contention by someone that DCL is rubbish. There is an ability gap between top players and rubbish, and DCL presently sits in that gap. Unless you contend he will reach top 6 standard in which case you are surely in a small minority with that opinion.

My assessment of DCL in top 6 squads and therefore as a top 6 player (based on last season):

Liverpool; 0 goals but sold to Bournemouth for £27mil
Man City; 3 goals in two early rounds of the league cup, 0 prem goals. < 5 appearances total.
Spurs; on the bench regularly. 10 Sub appearances, 4 starts and 5 goals.
Chelsea; thrown in out of desperation when Morata was crap. 5 games, 0 goals as nobody passed to him. Ended season at that Dutch club they send all the youngsters to.
Arsenal; 1 league cup start, 2 sub appearances, 1 goal. Converted to right winger after goal and quickly dropped altogether.
Man United; thrown in when Lukaku was floundering, never scored but Mourinho liked him as he worked hard. He showed his approval by publicly humiliating him and man managing him through games. Scored 6 in 10 during the Ole bounce and given 5 year contract on £175k a week. Never scored again.
