Not his type of game yesterday.
I still think if we are playing away from home to a top team he should play, but against teams that sit deep and dont let much space behind them tosun is probably the better option as he is more lilely to finish a chance.

Until january anyway when we spent 70m on werner than jobs a good-un

Fulham didn't sit deep at all yesterday and he failed to even get into the game.

He’d be great in a different system where his attributes are more suited. At Bournemouth, say, where his physical attributes and work rate could compliment a strike partner which he doesn’t have here.

As it is, he’s not good enough (yet?) to be a lone striker for Everton if we want to be challenging the top 6. He lacks composure and that quality in the box. But that’s not his fault, so let’s get behind him.
The saddest thing is Bournemouth probably already have 3 strikers better than DCL. And they’re Bournemouth.

If by "pull away" you mean "pass by running faster" then, yes, he absolutely did. That's why the defender went from being in front of him to pushing him in the back.

Can't look for video evidence at the moment, but that's how I remember it.

No mate! When the ball is played he’s already running and the defender gets to the ball at the same time as he does, he then runs on the outside of the defender , who is slowing down because the keeper is coming for the ball. The defender for some reason pushes him in the back dispute the fact DCL wouldn’t have got the ball before th GK anyway.

Barkley used to be awsome at “pulling away” as in getting goal side of a man and pulling away, as in the defender wouldn’t catch him, barkley could actually do this with the ball at his feet which is why I thought he was going to be a top player. DCL gets played in and never pulls away, his goal last year when he was clean through and hit a soft left foot shot that luckily got deflected ( because the defender got back and caught him) and looped over the GK is a perfect example.

I just re-watched and you're more or less right, he passed him only because of the angle he came in at. And the push was totally inexplicable, he was never getting it.

The stats appear rly say he’s the fastest in the league but It doesn’t look like it. He never burns players like richy can or Walcott when he gets goal side of his man. Maybe he has pace but it’s his acceleration or turn of pace that is needed. I like DCL attitude and he always seems happy to be playing footy for a living and think he’s professional and works hard etc, I just don’t think he is good enough in front of goal. I would actually go as far as saying his finishing is terrible and the weakest part of his game and I am one of those that belive that goal scoring and finishing can Be improved but you have to have the knack and natural ability to start with, which he doesn’t .

Fowler was a great natural finisher, yakubu, lukaku, Owen, lukaku even Cottee players that find themselves scoring all types of goals. These all had good finishing skills at a young age and were scoring goals. DCL doesn’t have “IT”

...not sure these DCL v Tosun v Niasse arguments get us anywhere. I think the truth is we don’t have a truly effective striker and until we do, then selection will be based on opposition, whether we’re at home or away and who is in the best form.

It’s a position that needs filling and until that happens we’ll have to make do with what we have.

Your point was poor and was proved incorrect based upon one of the major incidents in the game. It’s okay to be wrong don’t simply keep pushing a poor point.

What are you talking about? He didn’t run clear of the defender did he? You going to tell me that if he wasn’t pushed he would have got a shot off? If so I suggest you look again, then if you still think the same, get down and get your eyes tested

This is spot on, we are where we are & until we get better we go with what we have...
