2019/20 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Kind of agree, myself (with you, not me). He has started scoring goals, rather than just being neat outside the area. The goals are of the 'right place, right time' variety, which is a big part of a scorer's armoury, granted. Still awaiting a glut of 'quality' goals, though. He's bound to have lots of opportunity till the end of the season, so we almost have no option than to sit back and see how he goes.
Had a good feeling about the lad from the off but felt for him for the reasons I'd previously given, we''ll be safe enough in the league aand whilst hoping we progress in the Cup, Sunday will tell, I hope he gets encouragement from all quarters now and finishes the season with a few goals under his belt.

at this end of this decade we must push to destroy those who have tried to enslave us with their negativity and lust to be first to ruin others on grandoldteam.com. thanks to mr lewin our glorious victory is in sight. push push push and drive the vermin over the cliff face.

Those people are the enemy within. Destroying Everton through their poor understanding football and irrational logic.

Happy to name names if asked.

I wouldn't say I'm optimistic but I like the guy so I hope he can show something.
He played really well towards the back end of the season.
He played really well in some great team performances.
I think he might surprise us ,having had a summer to mull it all over and two weeks to panic .For me he was definitely not a number 9 but he has almost all to do it ,just needs a push from Kean may be .It would be great to have two fast kids in the front ,Oh and Richarlison .What is not to like ?
Can the boo boys give the lad a crack at the start of the new season before sharpening the knives
Great start to his 15 goal season
Thought he held the ball up well and brought people into the game well today. I would have moved him out wide and replaced Bernard at the time with Kean. We lost our outlet when he went off and that produced the pressure that resulted in the sending off and us going on the back foot.
We should, not be flushing the lad down the toilet - we all know he needs to develop more but time is on his side. In my opinion he plays much better when he has someone along side him that takes the pressure of his young shoulders.
Will somebody else slot for him?

Look im not a DCL basher, I think he has potential, hes normally quite decent at the whole lone Striker thing, against Arsenal he led almost to perfection, but to suggest hes being miss played by Silva is a total stretch. Maybe we do need to get people around him better, but hes not playing up top on his own, he has The Viking to work off.

It didnt work up top today, I thought everybody was quite poor in an attacking sense, with new players its gonna take a few games for things to start clicking, we need to be a little patient, not throw every single player under the bus, the manager, Brands, its a joke.

Meh, not a dig at you mert, just getting a bit sick of how reactionary the fanbase is.
Why is it “hard not to abuse him”? It should be very easy not to abuse him ffs.

Pathetic thing to say
He causes problems beyond his age...it's natural. Hope he continues to do so.
Yes and I did cover that. Niasse is a natural goalscorer but his all-round game isn't good enough.

Calvert Lewin isn't the most natural scorer but he's 22 and the hope will be he gets better at this aspect of the game, as he has improved other parts. At present we are a better team with him in it. It's no coincidence our upturn in form last season game with him as a striker.
I'm not being horrible mate, but he has a similar goal return to Rashford, and offers a lot more in the broad attributes (being at the same age as Rashford too).

There are criticisms of Calvert Lewin, but some of them verge on the ridiculous and don't stand up to scrutiny. The idea he's a championship player is one of those.

You talk about teams 4-6, well last season against the teams who finished 3rd, 5th and 6th he was miles ahead of any of their strikers. One of who'm has just been sold for £70+ million.
DCL stretches teams, he also wins far more headers, holds the ball up better and brings others into the game better. Go and ask Mustafi who he'd prefer to play against.
That's pretty much what his role was at Bayern for what it's worth. They very sparingly use a traditional #10 these days.

Some kindly vaulting this New Years Eve, well done to these fine salmons for swimming upstream against a torrent of DCL hate.

I don’t think I am , he has been our first choice striker for 3 years and I was getting sick of watching him run around fast , jumping high and scoring no goals. I wanted to keep lookman and vlasic I just didn’t see anything special to warrant 3 years of patience I’m DCL that’s all

You wanted to keep players with bad attitudes and get rid of one player who had a fully committed attitude..... ok... I can see how that's shaping now too.

Mate you've quoted a post of mine from the James thread and I'm genuinely confused.

The other post you quoted of mine I said I'm a little doubtful but I hoped he would come through. Still confused.
