DCL is hardly prolific.

He's having a decent season post Silva in which the squad is galvanised and we are going through a bit of a new manager bounce from Dunc.

As I said he'll have to continue this form not just all season but next aswell if he's the answer to that Lukaku shaped hole up top.

If not he's still a decent squad player for us but we would need someone proven up top.

Mate this is the same fanbase who kept thinking Silva had turned the corner everytime we won the odd game.

Our fanbase is and always has been ultra reactionary.

Or that im not being blinded by a few games where DCL has scored.

The whole side since Duncs chelsea game has performed well as we've had you can argue two new manager bounces.

If he keeps his performances up for another 12-24 months then yes you have a point but right now he's simply going through a decent spell - lets see if it continues.

I also think that Greenwood looks quality for his age and is the better finisher.

Baffling aint it - just because he runs around alot the fans love it.

He's a younger Naismith - plucky likeable bloke who runs about alot and occasionally bags but is very limited in ability - the fans wont accept it but thats the reality.

Sure he may develop with time but 1. I have my doubts and 2. We need someone ready and proven whilst we have a world class manager at the helm.

No point waiting 3-4 years for DCL to 'potentially' come good only to then lose Ancelotti and possibly end up with another Martinez/Koeman/Silva etc. Level manager.

If he stays our main striker its no europe or trophies for us its that simple.

The fact we keep trying to sign strikers whilst he is playing tells you the managers know we need better but the DOF keeps signing tosh.

That isnt good when our entire attack line are not prolific - Bernard, Walcott, DCL, Richarlison.

We cant keep relying on a striker/winger hybrid in Richarlison for goals.

Ancelotti either signs our own Mane and Salah or he has to replace DCL with a goal scoring CF as we need more than 1 player being a threat at goal.

Kean was the right signing at the wrong time.

You can't have 2-3 young forwards who are not prolific and expect them to do the business.

We should have signed a proven goal scorer in their prime for DCL to learn from.

Ibrahimovic on a 12-18 month deal on a free would have for me made alot of sense.

He's an Evertonians wet dream - hustle and bustle and plucky.

No ones doubting DCL's work ethic - they are doubting his quality in terms of being in the first team every week.

Fans like yourself think its either a choice between an egotistical lazy quality player or honest hard working limited player.

There are however players like Richarlison who have both - they are the players we need to find more of.

I've said for a while DCL is our Shane Long - hard worker and runs his socks off and occasionally gets a goal from hustle and bustle. The problem is however that alone isnt good enough if we are to seriously compete for the top 4/6, trophies etc.

Why bring one of the worlds elite managers in on a massive contract to settle for 8th-11th every season?

Our problem for years has been no competition for places - a top striker coming in to push DCL and Kean should be the aim imo.

If he keeps it up over these next 12-18 months and improves his finishing when it matters ie. 1 on 1's etc. I'll happily admit he's improved as I have done with Holgate who's turned my opinion around this season.

But as of yet if you want more than mid table for me we need another CF alongside him.

DCL isnt doing a great job - we've literally had to change our formation, tactics and shove our goal scoring wide player through the middle to play a front 2 because he's that garbo he cant play up top on his own.

Unreal how he's scored a few goals in a hand full of games and is suddenly Del Piero.

If he was top quality we wouldn't be scoring just the 1 goal per game as we have in our last 7. Yes thats a squad problem in general but a top striker in the team will put a game to bed for you not miss 1 on 1's.

Its okay to just admit you're wrong mate - both could be in purple patches and be crap next season OR both could keep scoring OR one continue scoring and one drop off.

Age means nothing when some players are late bloomers and in Ings case have had injuries to overcome.

He really isnt mate - 27 and in the prime of his career after a mix of horrendous injuries and a move to LFC which coincided with them signing one of the best attacking line ups in world football.

Drogba only turned class when he hit around 27/28 he was a donkey in his earlier years - people wouldn't have turned their noses up at him would they?

Get him signed up in the summer with Tosun and Niasse out the door and our forward options are fantastic.

He could or he could end up going to say Leicester, replicating his goal scoring form and be Vardys eventual successor which is something we have failed to do in 3 years having lost Lukaku.

Even the likes of Haller (who I rated) had come in from abroad after scoring a load of goals for £45 million and been a flop my point is EVERY signing is a risk.

The reason why Leicester for example have won the PL and have qualified for the CL is because they have signed players to fit the needs of their system - they didnt care if Vardy was a non league player or Maddison was unproven in the PL or Perez wasnt a fancy big name signing.

Our club and fans on the otherhand dont rate any potential signing unless its a fancy name from abroad or someone under 25 (Zataraitis).

I get pelters for saying it but he isn't good enough to be a regular starter if we want Europe.

People are far too impressed by tap ins against fodder sides we need a clinical finisher who gets 2 chances and scores atleast 1.

Add Kean who offers nothing from the bench it has to be a priority this summer.

Its what will stop him becoming a top player.

Forget how many goals he scores from tap ins and headers - if he's missing those chances frequently especially in big games that decide trophies and european qualification it becomes an issue.

He'll never get the strikers instinct - the fact he was originally played as a midfielder suggests finishing was never his thing he's just going through a good patch but if that simmers down he hasn't much to hang his hat onto.

I agree however players also have purple patches (Zaki, Michu, Jelavic, Cisse, Ings if you listen to people on here) so lets see if he keeps up scoring otherwise alot of people are going to look VERY stupid on here gloating that they have always been right.

I've told folk to give it longer than 2 months before blowing their loads but they never listen.

It's more than just 2 months though. Across the season, I can see only 2 players with the same number of goals as him, who have a better goals (from open play) per minute ratio than him. Even if he flops next season (which I doubt he will) he will still have had an exceptional season this year and proven his doubters wrong.
