I just dont pretend that when I watched DCL be largely bang average and barely score 2-3 seasons ago that I always knew he would improve just to be proven right on the internet.

Wasn't his fault that he had to be our no1 forward at the time but he was and therefore the expectations on him to perform to a high level were justified.

You dont become chairman of a company and get let off if the company bombs because you're younger than the average chairman and lacking experience - if you're in that position then you're judged on output end of story.
In football players develop. You largely don't understand that, but it's fine, everyone can't do everything.

It was rough backing him on here, even in 2018 I was being laughed out of threads for saying he would go on to be better than Rashford who was just a hypejob.

Hows it going lads?

Some classic vaulting there. I wonder if they will reply :P Always had faith in DCL even since he was listed at 5'9 on FIFA...

Nope - plenty burst on the scene then disappear into obscurity.

Tom Davies is a perfect example of a player who's regressed.
Davies is already a better player now than he was at 19 but I guarantee he will be better by age 25.

You're also confused about how good players are when they "burst on the scene." Very few are actually top level and most of it is just a hype job.

Yes playing in a crap midfield .....seems to play & score at under 23 level - you write youth players off too easily DCL for instance ...... Tom may not make it, but give him a chance in a good midfield first.....he maybe suit a loan out - I would never write a young player off .......Carlo has the over say on us all anyway....... ;)

In your opinion.

I see nothing to suggest he was as good as he was in his breakthrough season.

You can literally name tons of player who haven't improved - Macheda, Ravel Morrison, Walcott there are absolutely tons.

Which is why I judge a player with what I see with my own eyes - if Kean is strolling around the pitch like a drunk fan im not gonna overlook because I hope in 2-3 years time he may be better - even if he is better how do you quantify that? Better as in world class better or an extra goal a season better.

Feel free to judge a player how you do but lets not pretend its a proven formula as it really isn't.

You hope whereas I go with what I see.

We heard you post far worse about DCL.......Tom may need a loan out if we have sufficient cover in midfield but any injuries he may be needed - Sig looks to be playing better in our midfield now....

One of the biggest problems with us fans is, if a player isnt setting the world alight by the time hes 20, he aint going to make it. We judge to early and not give time to players to progress.

Generally the die has been cast by the age of 21, you can more than likely tell if they are going to be decent. You have exceptions like Vardy who was a late bloomer and you have players that looked like they'd go on and get to world class levels but didn't keep improving (Barkley).

Seeing he scored the winning goal in a world cup at that age we knew DCL had talent. He was just played out of position so we never saw it here. I still wouldn't consider he has made it yet, we have had strikers who have hit a purple patch but then failed to get back to the same levels afterwards. What is encouraging for us is Dom's attitude which seems spot on, if you don't believe the hype and keep working hard trying to improve you usually get what you deserve.

Fingers crossed for him and us we have found a prolific number 9.

Agree on your last line, not since Rooney has a player burst on the scene who has been top draw from day one
