He never hides, do I think he gets into games all the time? No. That hasn't been down to him hiding. There's a difference.

He will cover the passes, close down a man, throw in a tackle and he will show for a pass.

I don't think he's good enough for where we are and where we are going but I'm not going to unfairly base it on attitude. His attitude has been spot on even though it's not enough to carry his lack of athleticism to carry the £100k a week internationals who were in the process of taking us down.

It's time fans look at the players who are making an insult of the fans and their own talents by giving 50%. We had a lazy selfish striker getting given songs cos he scored a few goals against West ham and stuff.... Albeit we got a few Bob for him to go elsewhere to struggle in big games.

Time to appreciate the players who go about things the right way as they are the ones who will help change our unprofessional culture which is happening now under Carlo.

He's crap mate, Invisible man most of the time, Not sure what you mean about him not hiding as he goes through games doing pretty much nothing

I think the truth is that Ancelotti thought the same - which is why he has made him stay in the box a lot more, to avoid his technical limitations. And that's fine too, it's like Michael Keane's role in the team changing too (from scared rabbit in a high line to excellent deep line blocker).

For the record I was talking to an ex player I know quite well... Players and staff are aware of who is flavour of the month and not etc. They treat it with the contempt it deserves when it's young lads learning their trade

His opinion was that fans need sorry about one thing... That's a player not wearing the shirt with pride. If a player doesn't put in any effort then they deserve all they get.

We as a fan base are notoriously tough audience. It used to be for lack of effort and passion which was good.. Now it's if a player isn't marquee enough and that's sad and wrong. It's why we've got millions of deadwood getting shifted by a manager who knows the value of players commitment

Talking about Tom Davies there... Not the premier league top scorer, player of the month, England debut goalscorer....

The other thing that the likes of @Joey66 forget is that Lewin has made 118 prem appearances for us, so he's been given a fair crack of the whip to prove himself.

The first of which was when he was 18. How many of those games did he start?

Age is an important factor. Whenever Dom's age has been brought up, posters on both side of the debate fall over themselves to post extreme examples. Vardy and Rooney are often mentioned. But these examples are the exception to the rule. The rule that means Dom is on a trajectory that is followed by the vast majority of footballers. A trajectory that sees players at their best in their mid - late 20's.

Bambi on ice was an appropriate description of him for a good couple of years tbh, let's not go rewriting the history books and claim he always looked like he was going to be a prolific scorer.

And in that time he has 30 goals I think. So quite a modest return when you consider Lukaku had 68 in roughly the same amount of time.

I think the more level-headed amongst us are just saying "Well done DCL, you're in great form, let's not put you under too much pressure just in case this is a purple patch, let's see you grow from a small deer to a beautiful stag".

More level headed. ... Haha.... Get a grip. Ya flagging to the mods that people who proved you wrong 2 years ago are back on the site.

You should get off this thread, worse than a Henderson slating kopite you. You don't deserve to be at DCLs graduation party letting stink bombs off.

Very dangerous approach that though. Very few are given the chance at that age to progress over four or five years for a reason - for every one that turns out OK like DCL, you have many more Tom Davies, Jon Oster, Danny Cadamarteri types who simply won't.

In the long term, the time invested in a young player may pay off, but in the short to medium term they're a detriment with no guarantee of being worth the hassle.

It's a hard balance to get right. But we shouldn't be saying play them all regardless just because it worked out once.

What does all this mean Pedro? We're all just happy that DCL is in a good run of form, I mean it was basically Lukaku's form week in week out but that's ok, hopefully he extends this purple patch for a little while longer

Seriously? That was your first thought? A bit of a sick and twisted mind...

Lots of kids photos have become 'iconic' such as the baby on Nirvana Nevermind album cover. Theres loads more.

Looks like a fun photo to me, DCL celebrating scoring/winning as a kid topped off with a bottle of champagne.

Could have

"Scoring since birth"

Or something on a t-shirt...
My first thought is that a t-shirt with a half-naked boy, drinking alcohol with the phrase ’scoring since birth’ might not exactly go down too well in Western 21st Century Society...

Yeah that's a decent return. I'm impressed with him but he's not the finished article yet but with each performance he looks more and more like he could be.

I think the thing I don't like is the smugness of those coming out saying they always knew he would be a top player. It's been years in the making for DCL to get to this level, and his performances were for the most part not that good, so of course there are gonna be people saying that.

To also have people throwing the term bullying around as if they've never thought or said that a player isn't good enough, is just laughable in my opinion.
I haven't seen much smugness on here. But over the years I have seen an obscene volume of brutally cynical comments against all our young players on here, some of them bordering on internet bullying

It's been so bad that I don't go near some players threads when we lose because I choose not to read the stuff being posted.
