Okay, good point. But he definitely has improved that ability to kind of sniff out a chance. That's probably as you say more from being told to stick central so he hasn't got as much ground to make up to get on the end of those drilled crosses into the six-yard box.

To me in the past, because he was short on goals, he was so desperate to impress he’d go all over for the pitch to get the ball. Understandable but meant he wasn’t where he needed to be. His positioning and movement have always been top class and is why I’ve championed on him since the beginning. He’s rarely offside from through balls.

He tends to struggle more against teams with big, rough-and-ready grocks at the back. I think he'll get more joy on Monday if he can attach himself to Christensen.

There were a few good moments where he took the ball on his chest under pressure tonight, but a few of those attempts at volleyed passes were a bit ambitious.

I think defenders are not enjoying playing against him.
He did miss a sitter though

...Holgate provided a good insight in that interview with Rio Ferdinand. Talking about Rodriguez, he was asked how difficult he is to pkay against in training & Holgate said: ‘not as difficult as Dom, he’s a nightmare you end up with his knee in your face. He jumps so high, he levitates’.

The effort just wasn't there last night, everything was second gear, it wasn't good enough but he hasn't got anyone to take his place as obviously King isn't that man.

he seemed to be trying to be a bit too clever with flicks and drops of the shoulder, he needs the basics of roughing up defenders to always be at the core of his play, then the flicks can be added. He seemed a touch off the pace last night.

Hasn’t scored past 9 yards out all season. Says it all.

Says what? That he is an instinctive finisher, not every player can have every bow. Composure is something he definitely needs to work on but what that stat tells us is he gets in the right positions in the box and can be considered a very good poacher.

Inzaghi has been mentioned by Ancelotti as a player he wants to turn him into, if that stat came up for Inzaghi, in his prime, would you be hinting at the same 'says it all' comment?

Hopefully he can add the composure and a bit more to his all round game but the style we are currently adopting is something he fits into perfect. If he ends up scoring 15+ in the league and they are all tap ins then they do count exactly the same as a 40 yard volley into the top corner, with your back to goal, so I say more 9 yards or less goals please Dominic.

Penalty box poaching is not an easy skill, if it was every striker would be doing it. Movement has a lot to do with this role but come on some of the best strikers ever to grace the sport barely moved out of the 6 yard box, Lineker for one, that sod across the park who used to terrorise us Rush, I think it's a position that seems to have gone out of trend.

That chance in the first half....was a poor miss for me.

He souldn't be letting it come across his body. Clinical top class strikers attack that instantly, and dont even need to look at the goal.

It will come, im sure. It really is very fine margins....and he puts those types away regular, we are talking top level in the world.
