He made some great runs yesterday to get into goal scoring positions. Scored the goal which even made the game a contest. Would’ve been nice if he finished one or two more, but strikers miss chances. Maybe we’d look better if we didn’t let the opposition freely shoot from 20 yards or our other attackers did something productive.

Name one striker who ruthlessly despatches every chance they get and never misses a sitter or has a dry spell.
There isn’t one. That doesn’t excuse his misses. He had a couple of chances last night, and numerous others over the last few weeks that have been dire. The people making the case for him that he’s a great striker only really had one thing going for them and that was his start to the season. It was brilliant but not convincing for a lot of us. I’d say his form since the start of this year is a more accurate reflection of his abilities and standing.

He's a very good forward who is probably still 3 or 4 years off his peak.

Spells of form do not solely define his ability or standing and the missing chances is nothing out of the ordinary for even the best - which he is not yet.

I don't aim this at you but the desperation from some to prove he is bang average or Championship standard is unreal. They'll take their opinion being right over what's best for Everton any day of the week and as such will ignore anything that contradicts it.

I’m sorry but we can’t wait 3 or 4 years for him to be top class. We need a consistent goal scorer for next season. There’s no one pushing him at the moment.

we don't need to wait for a consistent goal scorer he already is one. what we need is others. even though dom was rightly criticised yesterday he was still getting in the positions to cause problems and miss chances if others did the same we'd have a lot less to worry about.

wow..just wow. what an embarrassment you are. truly pathetic. your judging him on the low end of his performances just as others judge him on the high end but at least they are being positive and you know supporting him and us. im guessing you're one of the experts that wrote him off and are just desperate for him and us to fail just so you can say I told you so. disgrace.

What he has shown in the last 2 years is he is willing to do hard work to improve, I for one think he knows what he needs to do to improve I also think the coaches should know.

I am sick and tired of reading posts like this. The slightest criticism and some whopper accuses you of wanting the team to fail.

Feel sorry for him to be honest. Digne isn't at all playing well, and we can forget about getting any crosses in from the right. If we don't have players to make use of his physical threat then he's wasted in this side. I'm sure he'll look miles better if we finally sort out the right hand side and manage to keep James fitter next season, if he happens to stay with us.

I'd agree competition is beneficial but this is the DCL thread and it seems like the limitations of the squad are being pushed by some as a problem with DCL himself.

That he isn't the answer to everything is not on DCL. Having to possibly wait 3 or 4 years to see him at his peak isn't a reason to write him off.

To be blunt, he isn't good enough if we want to challenge for trophies. But that is the case for every member of our squad (with the exception of Digne and Rodriguez)

Harry Kane at fault for Spurs defeat missed two free kicks hit the post like, but it was a great chance .......
They got beat 2-1 on he scored with his head ran offside too early.....,.
That's the pathetic arguments being posted here about DCL .,.....plus he scored Kane never :D

If he had netted his chances we win yesterday. Fine margins n all that and he has been brilliant this season we need to make more chances.
