Remember when we came 7th with Lukaku and we still would of been 7th if he scored zero goals that season, be interesting to note if you take away the DCL goals where we would be in the table.
He might of fizzeled out but i bet he accounts for a lot of our points this season

He scored 3 vs West Brom - 2 points lost
Palace - 2 points lost
Liverpool - 1 point lost
Fulham - 3 points lost
Burnley - 1 point lost
Leeds - 2 points lost
United - 1 point lost

12 points

We would be 12th on 40 points.

95% of his goals have given us points.

But he's not good enough, LOL.

I remember thinking what a load of complete nonsense that is like.
I think it was Steve Walsh who piped up with that gem.

Which, on paper, may be right. However even if a load of Lukaku's goals came when we were ahead already, goals kill off games. Dampen down the possibility of the comeback, boost team confidence when you get bigger winning margins etc.

Odd logic unless he's scoring the 7th in 7-0 wins. Which he wasn't.

Back to Dom, as @MikelsGoat convincingly demonstrates, his goals have been clinchers.

Yep exactly this.

The logic is so flawed, we could win a game 4-0 Lukaku store a hatrick and then Barkley scores a last 4th on the counter, statistically speaking we didn't need lukakus goals to win the game.

Going a bit off topic I know, but I've said before that's actually been one of our big issues this season in my opinion. We've virtually (possibly literally) never been able to take our foot off the gas because a game's wrapped up. We have to play at full intensity for 90 minutes every game in order to get results, and I think that takes it's toll, causing injuries and fatigue, as well as obviously getting pegged back in some games and dropping points. That ability to put teams to the sword and turn an edgy game into a rout can be a lot more useful than people make out.

Wow, so he did, how I missed that I don't know.

Spurs - 2 points lost
West Brom - 2 points lost
Palace - 2 points lost
Liverpool - 1 point lost
Fulham - 3 points lost
Burnley - 1 point lost
Leeds - 2 points lost
United - 1 point lost

14 points

We would be 12th on 38 points.
Does that take into account Palace would have 2 more points? So we would be 13th and them 12th on 40 points ?

Take that 6-3 against Bournemouth that season as a great example. Lukaku scores 4 great goals, all from open play, some created himself, also assisting one of the goals in the best centre forward display I've ever seen from an Everton striker.

He needs every single one of those 4 goals to be credited with 3 points. He'd have needed a hat-trick to be credited with one point. Only 2 today? Sorry Rom, those goals didn't happen.

It's the most misleading stat I think I've ever seen in football. Really memorable though, so will still be quoted for years to come.
