Who would you want beside you in the trenches from our pitiful lot..probably only Allan for me
yes mate...isn't it a sad indictment on our club?...what a soft, impotent underbelly Everton possesses. But to call a spade a spade is banned nowadays...not PC you see. Me?...I no longer care...maybe because I cared too much.

Ok Marius you are not making any sense.. Where did I say I expected him to train and focus on football 24/7??. In fact I didnt use any of those terms, words or even imply that. Maybe you should re read the original post.

Maybe you should.

It has nothing to do with masculinity or fashion for me. Nothing. But his team is in a mist of a relegation battle. He is not performing and hasnt been for a while. Injured or not. To me it comes down to focusing during the season on football if you are not performing on the pitch. Different if he was banging in goals and playing well.
He looks distracted to me. In more ways than one. He isnt working as hard as he should and not winning personal battles in the pitch. I always think he has been a limited footballer anyway but is good on crosses and in the box.
If he was advertising playstation and spending his energy off the pitch on that and not performing people would be saying what the hell is going on too.

Its life or death time for this club. Everyone needs to wake up and concentrate 100% on getting out of their mess they got us in.

Each to their own but what a time for an article like this when your team is in a relegation scrap and you're doing nothing to help

Also strange he doesn't wear clothes he likes, he wears clothes if they will make people question him

Weird kid, off to Arsenal you pop
Nothing to help? Didnt he get the assist for the Newcastle win

Love how it's DCLs fault because he isn't scoring goals.

Yet we don't create chances. We don't have anyone who knows how to cross a ball.

Last season he had 3 players who could cross or play great balls in behind in Digne, James and Siggy. Only one of those is a forced and necessary loss to the squad. And we didn't replace any of them with similar ability players.

Imaging going from having James playing behind you, to having Alex effin Iwobi. Yet it's DCLs fault he isn't scoring from the edge of the 6 yard box like he was doing last season.

I think the absurd decisions of Benitez have been discussed at length.
So it comes down to this - is he doing enough when he’s on the pitch this year? For me, no.

But he used to get grief for coming deeper as everyone wanted him up top, then he goes high and gets grief.

I don't think he has been playing particularly well, but as a striker, You are also at the mercy of the players supporting you. And generally, our attack is poor and ineffective. There's huge holes through the midfield and we rely on individual bits of brilliance for anything to happen. There's no cohesion.

Very few strikers look good unless the team as a whole looks good.

We are in no position to play with a box striker who offers nothing else in the game. He has to fight for every ball, as does everyone else. And him coming deep is no bad thing if we have others willing to make that effort to run beyond him.

His performances haven't been good enough. He's been back from injury for weeks now, so it's time to step up and contribute to the team. Richarlison and him have the ability to get us out of trouble but they have to show it, and show that they want it. Sunday was pretty embarassing from them. The lack of composure was shocking.

I think we have found DCL’s ‘stylist‘ lads

I’m hearing Lampard will start Rondon and Gray up front tomorrow night so wonder the implications for both DCL and Richarlison. Perhaps he will play the latter on the left but that sounds like DCL is out.

I agree. They both need to work harder and do more to get us out of it.

The problem with that, is we have posters saying that DCLs strengths are in the box and from crosses, yet we now want him coming deeper and working back etc, yet when he does that, he won't be in the box, and then people will complain he isn't in the box.

I'm hearing we are playing a front 5 Chico and bypassing the midfield altogether

Pickford
Coleman Holgate Godfrey Branthwaite Mykolenko
Gray Richarlison Rondon DCL Gordon

He just has to work harder if he is coming deep or working the channels. It's not like it's impossible. Antonio showed exactly how you do it on Sunday.

He's done it before and been effective. He needs to occupy defenders and make their job difficult, at the very least. We are playing Burnley without their best defender. If he is up for it, and plays like he did last season, he can dominate them. We just haven't seen that sort of performance since August.

Not really. Just pragmatic about the fact we have a striker who everyone agrees strengths are in and around the 6 yard box and crosses. But now everyone wants him further back etc. He will do that, and then everyone will complain he isn't in the box where his strengths are.
