He just has to work harder if he is coming deep or working the channels. It's not like it's impossible. Antonio showed exactly how you do it on Sunday.

He's done it before and been effective.
But he used to do that, and everyone had a go at him for not scoring as many and being in the box. He can't be in the box, (and he is the best player we have in the box) if he is out on the channels or deeper. And even if he does that, he still needs the other players to do the work, which aside from Gordon, hasn't been happening either.

We weren't in 17th and in danger of relegation back then. This is completely different.

Weren't we? Under both koeman and Silva? Both sacked because of how low down we were.

He looked best under ancellotti, when the team played to his strengths. Otherwise, he wasnt scoring many and was getting grief for being deeper and on the channels.

However, his workrate did seem higher then. But we were still low down.

We have not been 17th in April in about 20 years, no.

We don't have players to create a lot of chances so he has to do a job for the team or he shouldn't play. We are away to Burnley in a relegation 6 pointer. This is not a time for football ideology, it's a time for showing fight and pragmatism. Doing whatever is needed to get a result.

That’s fine . But he’s not working hard either. I would honestly rather play Rondon if DCL is going to continue with his current level of effort .
Rondon should be ahead of him anyway, he scored twice in a period when goals looked impossible for Everton and hasn't been since, meanwhile DCL doesn't even make any effort

A two yard tap in and a 4 yard header against a non league team, he looked woeful against them most of that night as he has in nearly every appearance

Doesn't look at it to me, he looks like he has a deal lined up for the summer, speculating of course, he used to be a pest and a handful, he was never the greatest finisher, hes not doing the former now since he returned to my mind, to be fair to him what we create is meagre - but he could do more to make his own luck.

My worry with him was always, it was only really ever Carlo who got a decent tune out of him and i worried he would revert to pre Carlo when he went, i worry thats what we are seeing - prove me wrong Dom.
