You just seem to be defending him a lot to me, if i'm being measured then you don't really need to if you're only concerned about criticism that's over the top. As Mike said above, it does come across like you're just not accepting any criticism of him at all, even if that's not what you're aiming for.

To be clear, I think he's a good striker, and he has the attributes to play a really important role for us. I just don't buy that he gets a free pass for having scored 3 goals from open play in the past 12 months because we don't put enough good crosses into the box. One way or another he has to find a way to be a threat himself, whether that's through better movement to get onto the crosses or through offering more in other areas. The players on this team aren't capable of consistently putting great quality into the box so if that's the only way he's going to score we genuinely might as well not pick him.
I am defending him yes, because the stick he's getting is ridiculous. Go back and watch the very few deliveries or passes he got on Sunday and tell me that the reason he's struggling is down to him. That combined with the fact that absolute no one in here is giving him any grace due to the fact he's clearly had and so having fitness issues means I am not daft enough to case him 24/7.

But you're effectively saying 'of course he doesn't score, it's because he's not elite and so needs to have chances put on a plate for him' and yet not extending the same courtesy to the other players, who you're criticising for not providing the requisite quality rather than saying 'of course he's not putting great crosses into the box, it's because he's not elite and so needs a striker to make it easier for him'. All i'm saying is that DCL's lack of recent quality is no less deserving of criticism than anybody elses, whereas you're applying double standards to defend him.

He got dressed up looking like a to55er and had pictures taken of himself.

Meanwhile the club who gave him a career is collapsing into the abyss

If that's not attention seeking i don't know what is.

SELL !
He is modelling mate, hes not sat in his room doing it. i'd love to see what you wear, though I can probably guess

The only thing I'd say is - the discussion slating DCL is when he isn't scoring (not much now tbf) goes GOT Viral, but say from tonight, if he does go on and get a goal in each of the next 10 matches the discussion will all be praising DCL because he is scoring.

It's all relevant to the moment.

The hypocritical ones won't come back and eat humble pie.

Well let’s say he doesn’t score in the next 10 games, will anyone come in here and eat humble pie or just continue to make excuses and say no one is dropping crosses onto his head 6 yards out?

That's not what I'm saying at all. If you've interpreted that way, I'd say that's more on you. My point is about expectations. I don't expect an average striker to be clinical with the current level of service he is getting. And because of that, it is senseless to criticise said striker to any great extent until the service changes.

I do think the clothes stuff is a bit silly from some posters and tbh I say good on him for wearing what he wants. However as I mentioned yesterday a Lampard team is not going to be throwing crosses into a big man upfront imo, he needs to adapt his game a bit if he wants to stay in the team under Lampard. Id be interested to know what Frank thinks of him and Richy and which one he prefers, he might not rate either tbh.

Modelling lol just the sort of person you want in a fight for survival

Sell the to55er !

But like I’ve just said, you then have to use the same logic for every player. The team as a whole is crap and so there’s no point commenting on individuals because the performance of others impacts them. Keane would no doubt look better with a dominant and fast centre half next to him, Coleman wouldn’t look as bad if he had a dependable centre half next to him and a dangerous wife player ahead of him, doucoure and Allan would look better if the balance of the midfield was better. You could go on forever.

I give up now.

Have a nice day and UTFT!
