Name me a prolific goalscorer that doesn’t work hard.

…they’re not all are particularly industrious, many like Kevin Philips or Jermaine Defoe sit ot the shoulders of defenders and use timing of movement to create space in goalscoring areas. Allan Clarke was called ‘sniffer’, he was another to get on the end of things.

i watched Lukaku lots as I’m sure many have, terrific goalscorer but wasn’t involved in many games when his team were under the cosh.

it’s a view that Managers tend to leave such players on the pitch, despite not being actively involved they can still come up with a crucial goal.

Oh I’m sorry, have you seen him busting a gut so far this season for his 18 goals? Dude’s a statue these days.

He still works hard considering he’s 37 and can’t physically be bolting around the pitch at breakneck pace for 90 minutes. He works harder than most in that United team, still runs the channels and unsettled defenders. Over the course of his career he’s been one of the hardest working athletes in sport too, I don’t think that’s the best example.

I actually think Dom did put work in against Man United

He just clearly isn't fit and shouldn't have been asked to play 70 minutes

More than once he was trying to get at them

Sadly there are chunks of our fan base who are heavily invested in him failing and that means he's not going to get a fair shake of the stick
Sorry but this isn't fit shout needs to stop.

Everytime the ball came to him he miscontrolled it and lost it, I can't recall one moment where this didn't happen.

When everyone else was busting a nut to get back into position, it should have been him pressing from the front, he trotted about allowing their centre halves time, he needs to work harder.

But we do not have the time to see if he can get back up to it atm, should be on the bench until he sorts himself out

I don’t know how he isn’t fit as he’s been in the first team since New Year’s Day and been starting most games. It’s been pointed out before but Christian Eriksen literally didn’t train for 6 months and is now one of the most in form players in the Premier League. Fitness is not an excuse for Calvert-Lewin.

Well I wasn’t talking about his career but this season, the few times I’ve seen United, I’ve seen none of that. Even on Saturday, none of that.

I don't see him as a natural finisher or who has good technique, so to be effective he needs to be fully fit, out running, out jumping and stronger than the cb to get in good positions to score goals. Until he is fully fit I he won't be as effective as he was last season, but hopefully he will get there soon.

Three games in the space of seven days was always going to be tough and he looked tired against United, but that 70 mins will help in the long run and he's got a good 10 day break now, I think we'll see a much better performance against Leicester.
