2021/22 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I think a lot of the hate we are seeing for DCL is men finding him attractive and this is causing their long repressed urges and self hate to surface again. He needs to be out their line of vision or they have to punch themelves repeatedly in the stomach yelling ‘GET AWAY! BEGONE!’

It’s ok lads. It’s the 2022 now.
Not too sure mate. I don’t think he’s been up to scratch football wise for a while now, but I’d still let him shag me senseless.

9/10 we're a better team when he starts.

I've been saying play him into fitness and confidence for ages given the lack of alternatives.

To be fair, he's recovering from a bad injury, low on confidence and we have very little by way of creativity/only Norwich have created less chances in the league this season. I also suspect he's been told to stay upfront/central - to 'goal hang'

All that said, his performance against Burnley was lazy. One or two token closing down of the 'keeper doesn't wash. We had plenty of the ball in the final third and he barely moved - to not try and create space, to move the defence, do anything... nah. Can't/won't defend that.

He was the same against Man Utd.

Celebrating the goal looked to be an effort.

I don't know the motivation why he has decided to barely move, I suspect it's fitness/confidence, but he's got to show some willing and at least try and create some space. If he can't do that, Lampard has to go for Rondon or Dobbin. Rondon can at least offer some presence/hold ball up maybe and I've not got a clue about Dobbin but I assume he'd cause more of a nuisance/create some space.

Here's hoping he scores against Leicester and then doesn't look back.

Whatever happens though, we need another striker. People took the piss when I was saying Mitrovic or Maupay a few years back but we need that combative/street footballer upfront. We need some competition/an alternative to goal hanging poacher.

I think he's struggling mentally with the injuries, as much as physically.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been opening up on the “soul-destroying” fitness issues that forced him to spend four months on the sidelines after injuring the same leg three times, with the Everton striker admitting that he faced a serious “mental battle”.

He went from comparisons to Inzaghi and a shoe-in for the World Cup to barely being able to get a sniff. He looks to have lost his sharpness and leap, he was a machine in the air with his jump but he seems to have just lost that spring in his step. Hopefully it's something that can return, but we have to support him to get back the levels he was at last season. It's not easy under the circumstances.

Burnley performance was a shambles but after seeing him on Saturday it's clear something isn't right with him. Don't think he's deliberately not trying.

Yeah what I meant by confidence.

I don't accept the 'deliberately not trying' nonsense either, but he's miles off the pace/has to show more.

His assist for Iwobi's goal vs Newcastle was great - he needs to turn up against Leicester. I think if he's not fully fit/worrying about reoccurring injury, bench him.

He's definitely trying his best - we can see that, but i'm sure you're right about the mental impact - he might be feeling that tension and pressure - hewas Kane's understudy in the ENgland squad - the first off the bench, now maybe not even in the squad for the world cup!

On Saturday, I spent a good ten minutes primarily watching him during the second half, and I got a sense of malaise from him; yet, I couldn't decide what.

A lot of his movement was limited and predictable (two-dimensional), with very little in terms of acceleration or anticipation. His head was often down.

I feel that it is potentially a mixture of things: his injury, it's impact and being concerned; the disharmony in the camp that came under Benitez.

But, I do worry whether he's fully committed although it may be subconscious. Is he someone we can rely on in our hour of need? Right now, I'm not sure.

A goal or two could easily spur him on.

Playing us into the Championship more like. Mid table teams can play players into fitness, we most certainly can not.

Ok mate, some don't like that fact that ant&dec is playing us into the championship, but we don't like him coz we're all homophobes? Great, got it!
I've worn some pretty shocking things myself in my time (you'd be surprised) so I'm not one bit arsed about what he models.. so looks like you're going to have to find some other way of puking your agenda all over us.

Hi Kevin!

Your bold stopped there just before 'given the lack of alternatives'

Teams with Rondon upfront go into the Championship.

We were god awful without Calvert-Lewin.
Yes, we're defo stuck there, I agree. But I don't believe we're currently better with him playing, Rondon, terrible though he is, would undoubtedly (imo) have been more useful just recently. We cannot afford to play dlc into fitness, not now. Stick Ronny on and tell him to get barging into people at the very least.
