Yeah, me and Goat literally said that in here when we were "deflecting".

Do it for Coleman now please :)

The majority of people voted for Brexit, Trump and Boris.

I tend to not give a toss what the majority thinks.

Dunno. Think a striker is very important especially if Richy goes. Rondon is a about as useful as a turtle. We need someone who can bag 1on1. We focus on defenders due to seeing Keane Holgate regularly, but we forget how little we created too. While spine of the team is weak.

For me the whole spine of the team barring Pickford needs sorting. New CB, new Mc new ST. I’d rather sell DCL and keep Richy and bring in a striker that compliments Richy. But on the other hand Richy will go for a big fee if he does which obviously we can’t be unhappy with.
I don’t think keeping Richy is going to be an option, first off.

Secondly, we’ve seen what a fit, well-coached DCL can do. Given we don’t have the proverbial pot to urinate in, I’d very much build the team around DCL being our first choice ST for the coming season.

A new backup would be nice, ideally even someone who can challenge him but again it boils down to cash. Lampard might cross his fingers that Simms can provide a bit of nuisance from the bench and in the cups.

For me, it is an optino, but out of Richy and DCL, one is getting a bigger fee than the other and one is definately more appealing than the other. I dont think either compliment each other very well either. I also have human values as well, Richy has given everything and I have no problem with letting him go to achieve his ambition. He hasn't downed tools at any point whatsoever.

Issue with building around DCL, I'm not convinced with his back to goal/on the ball. HIs touch is poor, he doesnt have a passing range. His best attributes are when he doesnt have time to think and goes off instinct, but he's not a lethal finisher. A Poacher in the box he is brilliant at (he showed this under Carlo). I'd like a more dynamic #9 personally which is why I'd argue we DO need a striker to come in as well, someone who offers different qualities to DCL and can link the play more in games where we do have more of the game, where we do need more creativity.

It's not an insult to DCL at all, just seeing how his game is through my eyes i dont want to neglect the fact we have Rondon as our back up. What if DCL's injuries continue?

I know you didnt say we didnt need one, that it was less of a priority, but I just think it needs to be an important position to look at as well.

Iconic Everton moment, all ends up.

….it was, it’ll go down in history.

Lets not forget, it was an Everton no9 scoring a diving header in the Gwladys Street. I think that was why he was so delighted after the game. The situation was memorable but the ‘type’ of goal was so fitting for a central striker. It wasn’t just a cake, it was a cake with icing on the top.

We will never forget that moment & I guarantee he doesn’t.

Yeah absolutely, I don’t disagree with any of that. At this stage it just fits more into the “nice to have” category while there are multiple essential positions to fill (CB, CM, etc).

I think the key this summer might lie in the smaller bits of business we don’t expect to do. If we can get anything at all for the likes of Gomes, Mina, Rondon etc. I hold out precisely zero hope of doing so, but if we DO blag a few quid out of someone then it might be the loan fee for a ST to challenge Dom or even a cheap little obscure number.
