Go back and read this thread over the last few months and you'll see not many would argue with that viewpoint.

If a bid comes in (which I highly doubt) then we need to take it. If not, we need to buy another attacker in any case, because the likelihood of us getting significant goals with him is virtually zero. There'll be no team effort to service him with loads of crosses all game under any Lampard team, that's for sure.

How many did lampard score against us? Seemed like every game v Chelsea. I actually had a small (albeit with respect) hatred for him as a result . Obviously the Cup final goal was the real killer - though Howard never covered himself in glory for that one.

Never seemed to get the recognition that scholes and Gerrard did but his numbers compare with both of them quite comfortably.

He should have an eye for a goalscoring midfielder so hopefully he can unearth one for us.
 
As for DCL, I rate him and his game has come on leaps and bounds (until his injuries of last season though he did come good towards the end - header v Palace was a peach)

I’d like to keep him but at the same time if someone wants to chick a ridiculous fee our way I think he’d be replaceable. If he does stay I’d like to see us bring in a decent back up - it’s a massive risk to rely on Simms or Dobbin if he does pick up more injuries

Shush now! That completely destroys the narrative that DCL is more bothered about a photoshoot than Everton. We know the reason he barely played was because he was wearing something some people find odd and not because he was injured. Right?

If he stays. And also stays fit. He's a simple player and our aim is just as simple. Get wide players in who cross the ball. Constantly feed him. Esp at Goodison. There are not many defenders who can beat him attacking the ball with his head. Sounds basic but it will be effective.
Just need better delivery on a more regular basis.

If we are just going to play like that then we become very predictable though thats my concern.

Of course. But we look light years away from being even decent. Im genuinely worried about next season if we dont hit a decent few signings.
Its predictable but we have to use by far his greatest strength. His head. Its no long term strategy but we might really need it next season.

people keep saying he come good towards the end he didn't he scored a crucial goal against palace that was all he did score a goal very good goal at that but he was crap all season and at no point did he come good.

He did but up on his return at no point did he come good he just stood about and jumped for balls he didnt win. I like him hes improved massively but fear he could become injury prone now especially with his mental state when you go that low you dont even want to get out of bed of a morning or even want to wake up never mind run about in front of 40k plus people if we get a decent offer for him id sell

The concerns with his thigh are quite legit.

The concerns with his mental health are not.
