2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Noones having that conversation. Yakubu was the better finisher and striker (but different types of strikers). But everyone just ignoring the 3 seasons after his one good season. And if you raise them, lots of reasons are given why. But DCLs reasons aren't accepted.

Each to their own though. But whether it's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or maupay, or whoever else, while we have the level of creativity in the squad we currently have, it's going to make very little difference. Haaland would be invisible in our team.

Haaland scores both of those chances he’s missed in the last two weeks 100/100 with his eyes closed, and we’re on 4 extra points as a result. Good strikers don’t need to miss 5-10 chances before they score a goal.

Toe yes, isn't a muscle.

Most common football injuries are ACL, MCL, or meniscus sprains or tears which are all ligaments...while technically not muscles still rip and tear like a muscle. He didn't dislocate his knee or anything so all his reoccurring injuries are rips and tears to tissue. These never heal 100%.

He had a long rest and was eased back in pre season. Was fully fit until a "freak" knee injury. Lampard has been taking it easy on him.

He's got a whole month off coming up. If he's not fit...I can't see him ever being fit to play a full season because of it. Which is a shame.
I agree. And don't deny we need another striker, but if we can get him fully fit and then manage that with another striker (so he isn't needed all game every game), he is a better squad option that most teams will have.

Like he scored the one on one (with allison already lying on the floor) from 6 yards out vs Liverpool which he blazed over? Top strikers miss as well you know

This is very desperate and not a good look at all.
But it's not guaranteed they score. Haaland is a much much better striker than DCL but its no gurantee. And we also lost 2 nil yesterday so scoring that goal may have made zero difference in the outcome of the game.

He needs to be doing better in those positions, but when he gets one, maybe 2 chances a game at the moment, it's a reach to expect him to score every chance he gets.

(Just seen the stat in the lampard thread that Gordon has created 6 chances all season and none in his last 7 games, sounds like quality service to our striker).

I expect him to score incredibly easy chances like those regardless of how many he’s had created for him. I don’t care how many chances Gordon has created, DCL has had two sitters put on a plate for him by other players and missed them both at crucial times in a game and it’s cost us on both occasions. We will be relegated with him as our first choice striker and we need to buy a better one as priority.

That's about where we stand.

If FL sorted the CD and CM out in the summer, January has to produce a new attack.

That long run with the ball yesterday. He never at any stage looked comfortable with the ball and i was just expecting it to bounce away from him. Mind you thats most Everton players. We havent had the worst possession stats for a few years now for no reason.
Nothings changed my opinion regards calvert lewin for a while now. Unless you are constantly feeding him with balls to get his head onto he's detriment to how i would personally like to see us play. Having someone who shines only through crosses(which we dont) is so limited.
We need to desperately look at changing the forward line. Hopefully after the WC.
Wont hold my breath though. This is the club that started the season with zero strikers to choose from.
